Rosé of BLACKPINK recently appeared in an interview with JTBC Newsroom, where she shared insights about her collaboration with Bruno Mars on the song APT. During the conversation, she revealed how she was certain that Bruno Mars would select APT.'s sample and agree to work on the song with her.
Interestingly, APT. was not initially part of the samples planned to be sent to him, as other producers on the team advised against including it. However, despite their opinions, her instincts led her to slip the song into the mix anyway.
Talking about how others in her team did not favor APT., the idol said:

Rosé admitted that even she couldn’t fully explain why she felt so confident about Bruno Mars choosing that specific track. Yet, her intuition turned out to be correct, as he did select APT., resulting in their celebrated collaboration. During her recent JTBC Newsroom interview, which marked her first solo appearance on the platform, Rosé of BLACKPINK shared more behind-the-scenes details about her collaboration with Bruno Mars on the hit track APT.
Her partnership with Bruno Mars took shape after she left YG Entertainment in September 2024 and signed with Warner Music Group's Atlantic Records. Through her new label, which also hosts Bruno Mars, Rosé proposed the collaboration and sent him three demo tracks.
In her interview, the star revealed that out of the three demos, APT. was initially not meant to be sent to Bruno. Despite her team’s advice, she trusted her instincts and slipped the track to him anyway. To her delight, Bruno ultimately chose APT. to work on, validating her confidence in the song.
The interview also touched on the much-talked-about cheek-kissing scene from the APT. music video. Rosé shared the humorous backstory, revealing how she and Bruno debated who would execute the scene. Bruno suggested it would be “weird” if he did it, leaving her to kiss him on the cheek.

“Bruno, you’re the greatest. I said it on TV… he’s really going to like it.”
