BLACKPINK's Rosé solo artistry and solo stages during the BORN PINK World Tour explored
Rosé’s solo debut came in March 2021 with her single album R. The album featured two tracks, On The Ground and Gone, both showcasing her vocal prowess and personal style. On The Ground quickly became a record-breaking success, topping the Billboard Global 200 and setting the record for the most YouTube views in 24 hours for a solo K-pop artist at the time.
The song also peaked at No. 70 on the Billboard Hot 100, making the BLACKPINK vocalist the highest-charting Korean female soloist on this list in 2021. NME reported that in 2021, R sold over 502,447 copies on Hanteo, a major milestone for any solo artist and especially significant as a member of BLACKPINK, whose global reach has helped push K-pop into new territories.
Additionally, the BLACKPINK vocalist became the global ambassador for Saint Laurent, representing the brand at prestigious events like Paris Fashion Week. In 2023, she was roped in as the global ambassador for Tiffany & Co. and the German luxury luggage line, RIMOWA.
BLACKPINK’s BORN PINK World Tour, which began in late 2022 and continued into 2023, saw Rosé performing solo stages on On The Ground and Gone. The tour spanned multiple continents including North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
According to The Korea Times, the tour attracted an estimated 1.5 million attendees worldwide, setting a new benchmark for K-pop tours. International Business Times reported that the tour grossed over $265 million (KRW 350 billion), making it the highest-grossing tour by a K-pop girl group to date.
In other news, BLACKPINK's Rosé left YG Entertainment in December 2023 and signed with The Black Label in June 2024. She then signed a global partnership deal with Atlantic Records—home to Cardi B, Bruno Mars, Ava Max, and more—on September 27, 2024.
