Serendipity’s Embrace ep 5-6 recap: Kim So-hyun accepts Chae Jong-hyeop's feelings
Episode 5 of Serendipity’s Embrace started with a flashback where Kang Hu-yeong thinks about the day when he decided to confess his feelings for Lee Hong-ju. However, his plan fell through when he received a call from his mother that they would leave for the US.
The drama then picked up from their kiss scene in the present, where Lee Hong-ju pushed Kang Hu-yeong as she believed he was playing around. Kang Hu-yeong, on the other hand, sincerely confessed his feelings, stating that he was serious about her in high school and that he is serious about her now.
The next day, Kwon Sang-pil (Lee Won-jung) asked Lee Hong-ju to go for a day out with him, Uncle Baek Wook (Choi Dae-chul), and Kang Hu-yeong. To avoid awkwardness with Kang Hu-yeong, Lee Hong-ju refused to go at first but was later convinced by Kwon Sang-pil.
Lee Hong-ju and Kang Hu-yeong spent a memorable time collecting seafood at the beach, where they almost had another kiss. Meanwhile, the situation turned comical as they lost everything they had collected.
Besides this, Kim Hye-ji (Kim Da-som) developed feelings for Sohn Gyeong-taek (Hwang Seong-bin) but found out that her father was trying to set him up with her sister, Kim Hye-seon. Although Kim Hye-ji felt uneasy about this, she asked Sohn Gyeong-taek out and faced unexpected rejection.
By the end of episode 5 of Serendipity’s Embrace, Lee Hong-ju dreamt of being abandoned by her mother, aunt, and her ex-boyfriend Bang Jun-ho (Yoon Ji-on). In her dream, she also saw Kang Hu-yeong leaving her since he thought she would not hold him back.
The next day, Lee Hong-ju decided to be honest with herself and accept her feelings for Kang Hu-yeong. She asked him to stay in South Korea and not to back down later, followed by a kiss.
In episode 6 of Serendipity’s Embrace, after returning from an eventful outing, Lee Hong-ju asked Kang Hu-yeong for some time to adjust to their new relationship. She then spent an entire day with Kim Hye-ji, and the two best friends got their hair curled.
Lee Hong-ju met Kang Hu-yeong the next day as promised, however, their date was disturbed by Kim Hye-ji again. Kim Hye-ji usually used to go trekking with her father and Sohn Gyeong-taek on weekends. However, this time her crush was unwell.
Kang Hu-yeong wanted to spend quality time with Lee Hong-ju and decided to help Kim Hye-ji, they sent her to Sohn Gyeong-taek's house to check up on him. Before reaching his house, Kim Hye-ji met Sohn Gyeong-taek and his mother. Sohn Gyeong-taek's mother was surprised to see a lady looking after his son and started to ask her questions about her age, marital status, and more.
Sohn Gyeong-taek lost his temper and asked his mother to stop asking her uncomfortable questions and also stated that Kim Hye-ji had nothing to do with her. Kim Hye-ji was left heartbroken.
On the other hand, Lee Hong-ju and Kang Hu-yeong visited an art gallery for their date, and on the way, she asked him what was the specific reason why he fell for her. Kang Hu-yeong did not have an answer.
Later at the gallery, he told her that he does not remember when it started, but whenever Lee Hong-ju calls his name, his heart beats fast. Kang Hu-yeong then started to wait for her to call his name again and again.
Kang Hu-yeong found out that his mother Baek Do-seon (Kim Jung-nan) had come back to South Korea and decided to drop Lee Hong-ju home and go meet her. He had previously resigned from his company, which is run by his mother, who refused his resignation and wanted him to come back to the US.
Later in this episode of Serendipity’s Embrace, Kang Hu-yeong told Baek Do-seon that this time he has decided to follow his heart and pursue his dream even if it is not the right decision, which may lead him to failure. Baek Do-seon was not ready to let go of his son from the company.
The next day, Baek Do-seon saw Lee Hong-ju for the second time at the same bus stop where she saw her a decade ago. She figured out why her son was refusing to leave the country.
Episode 6 of Serendipity’s Embrace ended with Lee Hong-ju finding out about Bang Jun-ho’s mental health and panic attacks. At the same time, Baek Do-seon then revealed her plan to stay in South Korea to Kang Hu-yeong, as she didn't want to go alone.
Serendipity’s Embrace final episodes 7 and 8 will be aired on Monday, August 12, and Tuesday, August 13, respectively, on tvN.
