Rosé and Bruno Mars’ APT. sets record with 300 million views and global chart success
On November 9, 2024, the APT. music video surpassed 300 million views. Released on October 18, 2024, the song achieved this milestone within just 22 days, 6 hours, and 30 minutes. This achievement makes it the fastest music video of 2024 across all genres to reach this view count.
APT. has also set a new record for K-pop soloists on YouTube. It broke the 11-year-long record previously held by PSY’s Gentleman, which took about 25 days to reach the same milestone.
APT. is a collaboration between South Korean singer Rosé and American artist Bruno Mars, launched as the lead single from Rosé’s upcoming debut album, Rosie (2024). Released under The Black Label and Atlantic Records, this marks Rosé's first solo release in three years, following her departure from YG Entertainment and Interscope Records in 2023.
The song is crafted by multiple writers and composers, including the BLACKPINK member and Mars. It merges elements of pop, pop-punk, and pop rock, with indie rock and electropop adding unique layers to its sound.
Inspired by a popular South Korean drinking game, the chorus is built around the chant "apateu" (Korean: 아파트; which translates to “apartment”), giving the song an engaging rhythmic quality.
APT. has seen immense global success. It topped the Billboard Global 200 and the Global Excl. US charts for two consecutive weeks, marking the second number-one on these charts for both artists.
In South Korea, APT. earned a "perfect all-kill," securing the top position on the Circle Digital Chart—an impressive first for both Rosé and Mars.
Additionally, APT. claimed number-one spots in multiple regions, including New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the MENA region, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan.
It reached the top 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart, making Rosé the first K-pop female soloist to break into the top 10 on both charts.
Rosé's debut solo album, Rosie, will be released on December 6, 2024. The album includes 12 tracks and Rosé has contributed as a co-writer for all the songs. The album is, as described by the artist, "a burst of honesty" and reflects a raw, honest expression.
