Jungkook’s debut album GOLDEN makes history with global achievements
GOLDEN was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). This is a remarkable feat for the youngest BTS member's debut solo studio album.
It was released on November 3, 2023, through Big Hit Music. The pop album which is entirely in English, received positive reviews from critics. It includes collaborations with Jack Harlow, Major Lazer, Latto, and DJ Snake.
GOLDEN, which has 11 tracks in total, is supported by four singles. The pre-release singles Seven and 3D were followed by Standing Next to You, which was released alongside the album. In 2024, Yes or No was sent to Italian radio as a single.
Seven, featuring Latto, was released in July 2023. It debuted at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. It also entered the top 10 in multiple countries. In September 2023, JK released 3D, featuring Jack Harlow. Big Hit Music announced the album on October 3, 2023.

GOLDEN achieved remarkable success on global charts. It charted in 25 countries and topped album charts in South Korea, Belgium, France, Lithuania, and Japan. It reached the top 10 in 14 countries, including Australia, France, and Germany. In the UK, it debuted at number three, becoming the highest-charting album by a Korean solo artist.
In the US, GOLDEN debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 with 210,200 equivalent album units. This included 164,800 pure sales (128,500 CDs and 36,300 digital downloads).
By November 2023, GOLDEN had sold over 2.4 million copies worldwide. In the US, it sold 244,000 copies in 2023, ranking as the 10th best-selling CD album of the year, according to Billboard. Globally, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) ranked GOLDEN as the 14th most-consumed album across all formats in 2023. It was the seventh best-selling album worldwide, with 2.7 million units sold in less than two months.
GOLDEN also recorded the highest global sales for a debut album by a male artist in a decade, with 8.4 million copies sold. In the US, it became the first K-pop solo album to sell over 500,000 units by the end of 2023.
Additionally, all tracks on GOLDEN sold over 100,000 units in the US. JK became the first K-pop soloist with five songs selling over one million units each in the US. These include Standing Next to You, Seven, 3D, Euphoria, and Left and Right. Seven also achieved Double Platinum status with over two million units sold in the US.
Jungkook is currently completing his mandatory military service as a South Korean citizen. He and his fellow BTS members V, Jimin, RM, and Suga, are expected to be discharged by June 2025.
