While the latest teaser gave viewers a preview of a potential Olympics-themed game in the upcoming new season, speculations about the chances of various child games getting included in Squid Game 2 have gone viral online. Let's take a look at 5 such games that might be introduced in the new season set to be released on December 26, 2024, on Netflix.
5 child games that might be featured in Squid Game 2
Here is a list of children's games that could be part of the upcoming Netflix show where around 456 contestants would compete to win $4.65 million:
1) Group jump rope
The new season could feature the children's game of a "group jump rope." It is a traditional activity practiced on field day at the majority of South Korean public schools. Probably, the game would be tweaked in Squid Game 2 where players would be sliced to pieces by the sharp hooks on the ropes if they make a mistake.
2) Biseokchigi
It is a classic Korean game that can be played in teams or by two players. Typically, a line is established before the game begins. Usually, a stone is placed on the line. The goal is for one player or team to use their own stone to topple the stone of the other player or team. The losing team could be shot in Squid Game 2.
3) Hopscotch
Hopscotch involves drawing a court on the ground using a range of linear squares of different sizes. The sequence in which a player must jump on the squares is determined by the numbers written in the boxes. A marker is thrown onto the court, and the player chooses the number by bypassing the square where the marker falls. A player is considered safe when they reach the top number.
4) Elastics
Often mentioned in Squid Game 1, Elastics includes two participants on either side who have an elastic band stretched around their ankles on both ends. A third player—or can be a team—jumps over the two parallel lines formed by the bands. The goal is to avoid tripping and falling or hitting the bands. Failing to do so could be an elimination by death in the new season of the show.
5) Da Bang Gu
Da Bang Gu is a variation of a Tag game, in which certain players get captured. Another team that isn't tagged can rescue the tagged contestants within the set time zone. Squid Game 2 might include pink soldiers as an opposing team who could stop the players from rescuing the contestants by killing them. The tagged team could die if the other team fails to rescue them, making it a thrilling game.
Several of these games were mentioned in the first season of Squid Game. Season 2 releases on December 26, 2024. Both the seasons could be streamed on Netflix.
