Jung Ho-seok, known as j-hope of BTS, has made donations to his hometown, Buk-gu, Gwangju, for two consecutive years. On December 5, he contributed through the "Hometown Love e-um" platform, donating 5 million KRW, the maximum annual amount allowed under the Hometown Love Donation program.

Last year, j-hope also donated the same amount to Buk-gu. His contributions aim to inspire greater interest in the Hometown Love Donation program and increase community donations.

Fans were moved by the idol's generosity, with many praising his consistent support for his hometown. One fan on X wrote:

More about j-hope and his philanthropy

Jung Ho-seok was born and raised in Ilgok-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju, on February 18, 1994. The South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter, dancer, and record producer's consistent support has made him a proud representative of Buk-gu. Local officials are optimistic his actions will inspire others to give back to their communities.

Buk-gu Mayor Moon In expressed gratitude for the BTS member's ongoing support, stating:

"J-Hope's donation, a proud local compatriot, is leading to increased interest in Buk-gu and the Hometown Love Donation System." He said, adding, "We are deeply grateful, and we will use this valuable donation to improve the welfare of residents and develop the region."

An official from Buk-gu highlighted j-hope's love for his hometown. They noted that his two consecutive years of donations have warmed many hearts and also increased inquiries about the donation program, especially during the winter season. Additionally, his Japanese fans made contributions to the area, donating a sculpture titled "HOPE" and scholarships for local students.

Since 2018, j-hope has been a member of the "Green Noble Club," which recognizes high-value donors of Child Fund Korea. Over the years, he has made significant contributions to the organization and other causes.

On February 18, 2019, he donated 100 million KRW to support students attending his high school alma mater in Gwangju. This followed an earlier donation of 150 million KRW in December 2018, which he requested to remain private at the time. In December 2019, he made another donation of 100 million KRW.

On November 17, 2020, j-hope donated 100 million KRW to support children facing economic hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On February 18, 2021, he contributed 150 million KRW to assist children with visual and hearing impairments.

For Children's Day on May 4, 2021, he donated 100 million KRW to help children affected by violence in Tanzania, Africa. Later in December 2021, he donated another 100 million KRW. This donation supported heating expenses for children from low-income families, childcare facilities, and medical costs for pediatric patients.

Since 2018, j-hope has donated a total of 800 million KRW to Child Fund Korea.

Beyond Child Fund Korea, the five-time Grammy-nominated artist has supported various other causes. After the 2022 South Korean floods in Seoul, he donated 100 million KRW to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association to help victims. In February 2023, he donated 100 million KRW through the Korean UNICEF Committee to provide emergency relief for children affected by the Turkey-Syria earthquake.

j-hope’s charitable actions, including donating 1 billion KRW to various causes, have deeply influenced his fans. His contributions to organizations like the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation and support for abandoned dog shelters have inspired similar acts of generosity.
