The Trunk, starring actors Gong-Yoo and Seo Hyun-jin, is all set to premiere on Netflix on November 29, 2024. The main cast of the The Trunk held a press conference on November 26, at the Raum Art Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul to promote the series.

The press conference was posted by Park Kyung-rim and was attended by Seo Hyun-jin, Gong-yoo, Jung Yun-ha, Jo Yi-geon, Kim Dong-won, and director Kim Gyu-tae.
The chemistry between Gong-yoo and Seo Hyun-jin has stolen the show and stirred the internet. K-drama fans are swooning over the visuals and the bond between the two actors. One fan commented:

Many fans funnily claimed the two actors to be their parents as they shipped the main couple of the series.

The Trunk's director compliments Gong-yoo and Seo Hyun-jin's chemistry
Apart from the fans, the director of The Trunk, Kim Gyu-tae was also all praise when it came to the chemistry between Gong-yoo and Seo Hyun-jin. For over five minutes, the director complimented them for their chemistry. He said:
"I was so, so happy. It was beyond my expectations. (...) Both of them are acting experts. In order to express their true feelings and true emotions, they were very considerate of each other and encouraged each other, which created harmony. I thought they were very lovely couple..."
The director commended Seo Hyun-jin for impecabbly carrying out the role of In-ji and was amazed by her work ethic.
"She (Hyunjin) was suggesting the tone and manner of this work. The character of In-ji was a very difficult one. Her psychology and actions are very dualistic. There were scenes where I was amazed at how she could immerse herself to the extreme and extract energy. Actress Seo Hyun-jin portrayed the parts that were drawn monotonously in a three-dimensional way."
Kim Gyu-tae also stated that through this project he understood why Gong-yoo is so special.He mentioned:
"He is an actor who enjoys himself on set, plays well, and 100% immerse himself into the character. His actinig tone is very natural, not excessive, and real parts were displayed. (...) I understand why he is Gong-yoo."
Kim Gyu-tae is known for his direction in dramas like Our Blues and It's Okay, That's Love.
Netflix's original series The Trunk is expected to provide a solemn yet unique blend of romance and mystery. It is described as a mystery melodrama that revolves around the revelation of a secret marriage service that comes to light due to a floating trunk.
Gong-yoo and Seo Hyun-jin's characters play the role of a strange yet complicated couple inside such a 'contractual marriage'.
The director tries to clear the misconceptions surrounding the contractual marriages within the series. He postulates that in the series it becomes a medium for finding true love.
"You might think it is provocative when you first hear about it (contractual marriages). In 'The Trunk' it serves as poetic medium of finding true love within a fake. It becomes the medium that becomes the starting point of the story," Kim Gyu-tae said.
November 2024 is the month of some of the highly anticipated K-dramas including The Trunk. It is all set to premier premiere worldwide on Netflix on November 29, 2024.
