The Auditors episodes 11 and 12 end with a sharp turn and multiple plot twists
The Auditors episode 11 starts with the ex-president of JU Construction being killed in his hospital bed by a mysterious man. As the funeral rites are held by his family, Shin Cha-il suspects that the death of the ex-president was a murder. He learns about the hidden funds of the ex-president, through which he laundered money via a shell company named Archcle Design Firm.
Shin Cha-il launches an inquiry because he believes the president may have been assassinated by an insider after his shell company was discovered by someone. He learns that the shell company was taken over by someone after the ex-president fell into a coma due to his accident. Shin Cha-il decided to obtain enough proof within four days to persuade the family to conduct an autopsy.
Meanwhile, Vice President Hwang Dae-woong makes Mr. Choi the new head of the company's purchase department. Shin Cha-il tails Mr. Choi later in a car and records him handing out a bribe to the police commissioner.
Later in The Auditors, after conducting an examination, the audit team finds that Archcle Design's CEO, Benjamin Lee, was never in New York. They discover that Benjamin Lee is a 28-year-old guy who lent his name for the documentation of the shell company and received compensation from the ex-president.
Shin Cha-il grows more suspicious of Hwang Dae-woong as the latter has a history of giving out small bribes. The Auditors episode 11 ends with Shin Cha-il following Mr. Choi in his car once again while Goo Han-su (Lee Jung-ha) follows the company president, Hwang Se-woong, and Seo Ye-jin follows the Vice President.
The three audit team members tail the three suspects as they suspect one of them would be the murderer. Meanwhile, Shin Cha-il reaches a bungalow and enters to find an unconscious Mr. Choi lying on the floor. Someone from the back tasers Shin Cha-il and the latter faints. The mysterious man sets the whole bungalow on fire and leaves behind both Shin Cha-il and Mr. Choi tied down.
The Auditors episode 12 opens with Shin Cha-il barely gaining consciousness for a brief second and sees that the current JU Construction president, Hwang Se-woong (Jung Moon-sung), was the one who tasered them and intends to burn Shin Cha-il and Mr. Choi along with the building.
Meanwhile, Vice President Hwang Dae-woong (step-brother of the ex-president and Hwang Se-woong) was on his way to find Mr. Choi himself and ask him about the secret and illegal slush fund. He sees smoke coming out from a faraway place and instinctively turns his car towards it. He enters the building and sees Shin Cha-il and Mr. Choi tied down and unconscious surrounded by the fire.
Hwang Dae-woong saves Shin Cha-il and Mr. Choi and gets them out of the burning building. At the hospital, Goo Han-su and Seo Ye-jin arrive and try to stop Shin Cha-il from leaving without taking proper treatment, but Shin Cha-il tells them that the time is running out and if the body of the ex-president gets cremated before the autopsy, then they will never apprehend the murderer.
Shin Cha-il, Vice President Hwang Dae-woong, Goo Han-su, and Seo Ye-jin arrive outside the Buddhist Temple where the funeral rites of the ex-president were carried out. They stop the car of the ex-president's wife and Shin Cha-il declares that the ex-president was murdered. Shin Cha-il pins the blame on Vice President Hwang Dae-woong and asks for an autopsy.
Later, President Hwang Se-woong caps Shin Cha-il at work and demotes him to a support team. Hwang Se-woong orders the audit team to cease all communication with Shin Cha-il and releases notice across the company that Hwang Dae-woong has been arrested for the murder of the ex-president.
Meanwhile, the audit team members Goo Han-su, Seo Ye-jin, Ok A-jeong, and Yeom Gyeong-seok secretly work with Shin Cha-il to reveal the truth. The Auditors end with Shin Cha-il and Hwang Dae-woong unmasking the president's deed in front of a shareholders' meeting. Shin Cha-il plays a spy cam recording that shows Hwang Se-woong injecting poison into Mr. Choi's IV drip at the hospital.
The poison and injection were found in Hwang Se-woong's private safe in his office. Shin Cha-il then revealed the real source of the ex-president's hidden slush funds that Hwang Se-woong used to bribe others. Hwang Se-woong gets arrested and sent to prison while Hwang Dae-woong becomes the new President of JU Construction. Meanwhile, Shin Cha-il resigns from his post.
The Auditors episode 12 ends by showing Goo Han-su auditing a company employee and now has adopted the demeanor of Shin Cha-il. Seo Ye-jin was transferred to the building designing department of JU Construction. Meanwhile, Shin Cha-il is in Jeju Island, where he gets approached by a director of an audit company, who offers Shin Cha-il to join him in hunting more corrupt companies.
This scene hints at a possible season renewal where Shin Cha-il could embark on a new quest with this audit firm and investigate further corruption. It also seems to be hinting at a new cast lineup for season 2 of The Auditors since the chapter of JU Construction and its employees get closed with this season. However, it is important to note that there has not been any official announcement or news about a season renewal.
The Auditors has 12 episodes and is available on Viki for global streaming.
