At the end of episode 2, Shin Cha-Il retrieves the necessary evidence to prove the corruption behind the accident and reveals JU Construction's real culprits—managing direct Seo Gil-pyo. In a special audit hearing, he shows the proof of Seo Gil-pyo laundering money and gets him arrested.
The Auditors' episode 1 deliver a high-paced and engaging plot with impactful scenes
The Auditors episode 1 shows Shin Cha-Il arriving at JU Construction's headquarters for an interview for the position of the auditing team's head. He comes across the employees of the auditing team and gets into an argument about their complacency and ignorance. The team included Gu Han-soo (Lee Jung-ha), Yoon Seo-jin (Hyeyeon), and three senior members.
Later on in the interview, Shin Cha-Il tells the President of JU Construction, Hwang Se-woong (Jung Moon-sung), that he applied for the job to eradicate the company's corruption. He highlights the company's declining stock price and mentions billions of dollars lost by the company due to undetected embezzlement.
Meanwhile, the auditing team is unhappy after learning that Shin Cha-Il applied for the position of their team's head. The next day, Gu Han-soo arrives at work and is surprised to see Shin Cha-il as the new team leader. Shin Cha-Il demonstrates his acute observational skills by determining that Han-soo is not fit for his team as he lacks practical reasoning.
He tells the team that he is reopening the tower crane accident case and will investigate the construction site foreman supervisor, Bae Young-sik. A displeased Han-soo tries to stop Shin Cha-Il and vouches for Bae Young-sik's innocence, as Han-soo and Bae Young-sik are friends. Shin Cha-Il gives him a week to transfer to a different department.
Shin Cha-Il ignores him, reaches the site to interview Bae Young-sik, and finds his laptop. Bae Young-sik snatches the laptop from Shin Cha-Il and runs away.
Both Shin Cha-Il and Han-soo chase after Bae Young-sik and ask him to comply with the investigation. Bae Young-sik tries to avoid them and accidentally falls from the third floor of the construction building and injures his leg. Han-soo still vouches for Bae Young-sik's innocence.
After acquiring the laptop, Shin Cha-Il gets it fixed and discovers proof of all the money siphoned by the managing director of JU Construction, Seo Gil-pyo. The following day, the auditing team's deputy manager, Yum Kyung-suk, tries to get Shin Cha-Il dismissed from his position by asking Han-soo to acquire Bae's laptop. Yum Kyung-suk wants to become the auditing team's head.
Later, Shin Cha-Il interviews Park Ho-yeon, the CEO of Myung Tower and JU's tower crane supplier, and shows him the evidence from the laptop. Shin Cha-Il surmises that the crane was built with poor components with disparate fabrication dates, and the excess money was laundered by Park Ho-yeon, the managing director Seo Gil-pyo, and Bae Young-sik.
Park Ho-yeon begs Shin Cha-Il for leniency; however, Shin Cha-Il gives him an ultimatum to come clean and confess his crimes to the police. On his way to the company, Shin Cha-Il is attacked by goons sent by Seo Gil-pyo to retrieve the laptop from him. The episode ends with Shin Cha-Il getting hit on the head and losing consciousness.
The Auditors' episode 2 maintains the plot's tension and concludes with a hard-hitting scene
In episode 2 of The Auditors, Shin Cha-Il meets with the vice president of JU Construction, Hwang Dae-woong (Jin Goo). Shin Cha-Il asks Han-soo if he has taken the laptop after he was attacked by the goons, and Han-soo denies it. Meanwhile, Han-Soo finds out that Bae Young-sik has vanished from the hospital.
The Auditors episode 2 shows Han-soo taking out the laptop from a subway station's locker. He opens the laptop at his home and sees the evidence, which makes him feel guilty for trying to stop Shin Cha-Il from uncovering the truth. He takes the laptop back to the office the same night and comes across the vice president, Hwang Dae-woong.
In The Auditors episode 2, Hwang Dae-woong takes the laptop from Han-soo and drives off to a deserted construction site. Shin Cha-Il follows him and confronts him about returning the laptop for auditing. He asks Hwang Dae-woong to comply with the company auditing investigation; however, Hwang Dae-woong throws the laptop into a fire and threatens Shin Cha-Il.
Later, Shin Cha-Il goes to find Bae Young-sik and uncovers the real identity behind the tower crane driver who was injured in the accident. He tells Han-soo that Bae Young-sik swapped the original injured driver with another man while taking him to the hospital. They drive to a reservoir, and Shin Cha-Il assumes that Bae Young-sik dumped the original driver into the lake.
Han-soo tries to convince Shin Cha-Il that Bae Young-sik could be corrupted, but he wouldn't kill anyone. Han-soo sees a physicist's clinic near the reservoir and requests Shin Cha-Il to check it once before he calls the police. They find Bae Young-sik hiding at the clinic with the severely injured tower crane driver in a coma.
Han-soo asks Bae Young-sik to admit his crimes for the sake of his daughter. Bae Young-sik tells them that Seo Gil-pyo ordered him to get rid of the tower crane driver; however, he secretly gets him admitted to the clinic for treatment. The police arrest Bae Young-sik, and Shin Cha-Il tells his team at the office that they will hold a special audit hearing to prosecute Seo Gil-pyo.
Meanwhile, in The Auditors episode 2, Han-Soo informs Shin Cha-Il that the president of Myeong Tower, Park Ho-yeon, agreed to testify against Seo Gil-pyo. Han-soo apologizes for his wrong judgments about Bae Young-sik and asks for a second chance from Shin Cha-Il.
Meanwhile, Shin Cha-II tells Han-soo that Park Ho-yeon lied about testifying against Seo Gil-pyo since they are relatives. He asks Han-Soo to find the dashcam recording from Bae Young-sik's car. During the special audit hearing, Park Ho-yeon changes his statement and praises Seo Gil-pyo for being an upright managing director.
Han-soo enters the hearing with the original dashcam recording, which Shin Cha-Il plays in front of the company stockholders. The recording reveals Seo Gil-pyo instructing Bae Young-sik to bury the injured driver; otherwise, he will lose the embezzled money. The Auditors episode 2 ends with Shin Cha-Il demanding the stockholders dismiss Seo Gil-pyo from his position and get him arrested by the police.
The Auditors airs new episodes every Saturday and Sunday on tvN and Viki at 9:20 p.m. KST. The K-drama has 12 episodes.
