The Auditors episode 9: Did Hwang Dae-woong and Ye-jin clear their names after being wrongfully accused?
Episode 9 of The Auditors begins with Vice President Hwang Dae-woong (Jin Goo) learning about the anonymous post against him and his niece, Seo Ye-jin. All of the employees begin to whisper, thinking that Dae-woong and Ye-jin had an illicit relationship that led to Ye-jin's employment.
Shin Cha-il asks Ye-jin to join him in an investigation, where he interrogates her about the truth of her relationship with Hwang Dae-woong. She tells him that her mother used to work as a housekeeper at Hwang Dae-woong's family house when Dae-woong was in high school. Later, Ye-jin's mother loses her job, and Dae-woong helps her find a home and a new livelihood.
Seo Ye-jin tells Shin Cha-il that Dae-woong treats her mother as an older sister, which makes Ye-jin his niece. After learning the truth, Shin Cha-il ends the interrogation and tells President Hwang Se-woong that Seo Ye-jin did not get hired through unfair employment as her college and interview scores were at the top of her class.
However, the president is dissatisfied to hear this and orders Shin Cha-il to hand over the case to an external audit team. Shin Cha-il tells his staff that they will keep looking into the unfair employment practices regardless of the external audit team, Baleun Firm, taking over the case. Meanwhile, Dae-woong (Jin Goo) meets Goo Han-su (Lee Jung-ha) and asks about Seo Ye-jin.
Dae-woong and Shin Cha-il coincidentally team up to reveal the truth and clear Seo Ye-jin's name. They discovered the fabrication of the hiring process for an employee in 2020 and set out to locate the documents. Han-su and Assistant Moon from the audit team travel to the Incheon warehouse where the documents are and get attacked by goons.
The goons steal the documents and make a run for them when Shin Cha-il and Hwang Dae-woong arrive at the location and stop them. After a few punches, the goons reveal that a loan shark, CEO Jeong, had ordered them to get rid of the documents.
Meanwhile, Assistant Moon tells Shin Cha-il he will safely take the documents to the office and leave them in his car. While Shin Cha-il, Dae-woong, and Han-su take the goons to the police, Assistant Moon calls them and tells them he was attacked by other goons , taking the documents.
At the end of The Auditors episode 9, Han-su meets Assistant Moon and accuses him of framing Seo Ye-jin and Vice President Hwang Dae-woong.
The Auditors episode 10: Does President Hwang Se-woong have an ulterior motive in getting Shin Cha-il audited?
Episode 9 of The Auditors begins with Han-su finding out that Assistant Moon was the anonymous tipper who accused Seo Ye-jin (Hyeyeon) of unfair employment to distract the investigation from his fraudulent hiring process.
Assistant Moon confesses that he forged his diploma degree to get a job at JU Construction in 2020 and hid the documents, faking having been attacked by goons. He was fired from his job and penalized for breaking the Workplace Act.
Furthermore, after getting the documents from Assistant Moon, Shin Cha-il learns that the loan shark, CEO Jeong's daughter, Jeong Hye-yong, was hired unfairly in 2020. Shin Cha-il, Han-su, and Ye-jin take the proof, charging her with fraud and blindsiding a company's hiring committee. Later, Jeong Hye-young tries to pop some pills and end her own life at the office.
This gets Shin Cha-il (Shin Ha-kyun) framed for violent and aggressive investigation practices, and the JU Construction president orders Baleun Firm to audit Shin Cha-il. President Hwang Se-woong tells the Baleun Firm audit team head to investigate thoroughly to protect the company's image, indicating that he wants to get the investigation to frame Shin Cha-il and fire him from the company.
Baleun Firm investigates Shin Cha-il over her past cases from one year at JU Construction. Shin Cha-il realizes that the external audit team is trying to frame him for things he didn't do; however, he stays characteristically calm and composed and obliges with the investigation.
Meanwhile, Baleun Firm digs deeper and brings up a case from two years ago where the embezzlement accused committed suicide after Shin Cha-il exposed him for embezzlement and fraud. Vice President Dae-woong (Jin Goo) asks Han-su (Lee Jung-ha) to meet Shin Cha-il's old colleague and discovers the truth about what happened in Shin Cha-il's previous company.
In The Auditors, Goo Han-su and Seo Ye-jin meet an old audit team colleague from Shin Cha-il's previous company. He tells them Shin Cha-il caught company Director Kim Man-soo embezzling billions of money. However, Kim Man-soo took all the blame on his head to protect the company CEO. He did so because the CEO had promised to pay for Man-soo's wife's cancer treatment.
However, bearing the guilt of it all, Kim Man-soo jumps off the company building and ends his life. Meanwhile, Kim Man-soo's wife stands in protest outside JU Construction and demands Shin Cha-il tell her the truth about why Man-soo killed himself. However, Shin Cha-il avoids answering and leaves.
Han-su and Seo Ye-jin meet Man-soo's wife and tell her that Kim Man-soo got involved in company embezzlement to pay for her medical treatment, but Shin Cha-il doesn't have the heart to tell her the truth. Kim Man-soo's wife finds Shin Cha-il at Man-soo's crematorium locker. She apologizes to him for misunderstanding him for so long.
Meanwhile, Han-su and Ye-jin learn from Kim Man-soo's wife that Jeong Hye-young's father called her to protest outside JU Construction. Seo Ye-jin finds out Jeong Hye-young's colleague, who tells the Baleun audit team that Jeong Hye-young faked her suicide to falsely accuse Shin Cha-il. The Baleun audit team charged Jeong Hye-young with fraud and threat and sent her for prosecution.
The Auditors episode 10 ends with the Baleun audit team clearing Shin Cha-il's name from all charges. In the end, The Auditors show someone entering the hospital VIP ward of JU Construction's ex-president, who has regained consciousness after being in a coma. However, someone enters the room and leaves immediately as the ex-president goes into cardiac arrest and dies on the bed.
