The Boyfriend episode 7-8 recap: Dai-Shun, Kazuto-Alan, and Ryota-Gensei go on a private date
In episode 7 of The Boyfriend, Shun and Dai had a conversation after the picnic, where Dai admitted that he had ignored Shun and made him feel lonely during the picnic. Shun slammed Dai for not following through on his promises and asked him to explain his actions later. The truck business did not run the next day, as the members went go-karting, with the winner earning a chance to make a wish.
Shun won the task, but he decided not to make any wish. Since Ikuo was a new member, he led the truck the next day and could pick a maximum of two members. Alan, Taeheon, and Kazuto raised their hands as they wished to join him.
Ikuo picked Kazuto as his partner, as the previous night the former expressed interest in him. After they closed the truck, Kazuto in the daily notes wrote that he would like to work with Ikuo again.
The next day, Kazuto had a chance to run the coffee truck and picked Alan and Gensei. Ikuo expressed his frustration as he was not chosen by Kazuto, and Ryota was sad as he had previously shown his feelings to Kazuto.
Despite not going on dates or running the coffee truck recently, Dai and Shun cleared their misunderstandings and patched up. They were seen hugging and showing affection to each other.
By the end of episode 7 of The Boyfriend, Dai was leading the coffee truck business and was expecting Shun to raise his hand as a volunteer to be his partner, but the latter did not raise his hand.
In episode 8 of The Boyfriend, Dai chose to work with Ikuo, and the two discussed Dai's relationship with Shun. Dai stated Shun felt comfortable and secure with him, however, he would act spoiled or take him lightly, and he would ask him not to take him for granted.
Dai further revealed that he received a text from Ikuo that he could not join him to work as he was overwhelmed and exhausted by the conversation everyone was having in the living area. Dai said that he would not forgive him, but then he received a random image of a frog by Shun and found it cute.
After the business, Dai and Ikuo returned to the Green Room. Shun told Dai the same thing he had texted him, and the latter stated that he was just surprised by his behavior in the morning. Later, Shun had a conversation with Taeheon, where he spoke about the issue he was facing with Dai.
While conversing with Taeheon, Shun stated that it was his choice to not volunteer as Dai's partner, and that has hurt his feelings, but he did not do anything to apologize. Taeheon gave him advice to think about the fair and unfair regarding volunteering later and focus on the part where Dai was hurt by his feelings.
Shun directly went to the kitchen where Dai was doing chores with Ikuo and apologized for hurting his feelings. Dai expressed his happiness that Shun had acknowledged his feelings and reaction.
Later, Kazuto spoke to Ikuo and told him that he should be with someone else. He also turned down Ryota, as he did not want to ruin their friendship. During the last selection of private dates, Alan and Kazuto were one of the three matches.
This is Alan and Kazuto’s second private date, where the latter openly shares his feelings towards Alan. He said that he would like to know more about him, as he was the most comfortable around him.
The second match was between Gensei and Ryota. They went to a glass-making workshop where they made a couple necklaces with a glass pendant. They went to a cafe for desserts and returned to the Green Room for dinner.
Gensei stated that this was an ideal date for him, and Ryota also shared that he sorted his feelings and picked him for the date without hesitation. For Ryota, Gensei's first impression had not changed, and adding to it was that he only got to see the good qualities of him.
The most anticipated match was Dai and Shun, on their second date, the two openly shared about their past relationships and also discussed their ideas of a family.
Dai and Shun decided to sleep on the same bed, and the latter initiated a kiss, leaving the panel surprised. It is yet to see what happens next on The Boyfriend.
The Boyfriend episodes 9 and 10 will premiere on Tuesday, July 30 at 12:30 pm KST on Netflix.
