The Fiery Priest 2, starring Kim Nam-gil, Honey Lee, Kim Sung-kyun, and more, aired the final episode on Friday, December 27, 2024, on SBS. The sequel of the popular comedy crime action drama The Fiery Priest follows priest Kim Hae-il, portrayed by Kim Nam-gil, going on a mission to catch the boss of a highly dangerous drug cartel in Busan. He is joined by his partner, prosecutor Park Kyung-sun, played by Honey Lee, and detective Gu Dae-young, depicted by Kim Sung-kyun, on this mission alongside the Gudam crew.

As per the final episode of The Fiery Priest 2, Kim Hong-shik (Sung Joon) and Nam Du-heon (Seo Hyun-woo) were arrested during the second hearing of the special investigative committee. Gu Dae-young was fired due to pressure from the authorities after receiving an award for his contribution in catching Kim Hong-shik. On the other hand, Park Kyung-sun quit her job and pursued a career in politics.

At the end of The Fiery Priest 2, Kim Hae-il was seen fighting men who were making illicit videos of a lady. Given that Kim Hae-il continued with his duty of bringing justice as a Bellator, there seems to be a possibility of the renewal of season 3. However, nothing has been confirmed by the production team of the crime series.

The Fiery Priest 2 ending explained: Kim Hae-il and Park Kyung-sun succeed in exposing Nam Du-heon and catching Kim Hong-shik

In the final episode of The Fiery Priest 2, Nam Du-heon turned towards his seniors and threatened them to help him get away from the case filed by Park Kyung-sun and Kim Hae-il. During the first hearing of the special investigative committee, Park Kyung-sun submitted 300 pages of information and a video made by the Gudam crew to better explain Nam Du-heon’s crime, but no solid proof. Kim Hae-il and Gu Dae-young also attended as witnesses.

Meanwhile, Nam Du-heon pleaded not guilty by claiming that he was undercover for a drug case. He threatened other witnesses who were ready to testify against him, so they had no option but to turn their backs on Kim Hae-il and Park Kyung-sun. During the second hearing, Assemblyman Kim Man-cheon (Park Ji-il) backed Nam Du-heon, stating that he made a special investigation team with Nam Du-heon to catch drug cartels. He also added that his son Kim In-seok (Kim Seong-tae) drug abuse case was also a part of the undercover investigation.

However, Park Kyung-sun submitted a voice recording of Kim Man-cheon and Nam Du-heon making a deal to save Kim In-seok. It was revealed that Gu Ja-young (BIBI) and Kim Ma-ri (Hwang Min-jung) found the honey jar, aka the information Nam Du-heon collected, to use against the higher-ups he worked with. The Honey Jar was located in the apartment in Busan beside the flat Park Kyung-sun was staying at; the apartment was owned by Nam Du-heon.

On the other hand, Kim Hong-shik was filled with rage after being betrayed by Nam Du-heon. He planned to barge into the National Assembly and kill Nam Du-heon alongside Kim Hae-il, Park Kyung-sun, and Gu Dae-young. He threatened Assemblyman Lee Hong-ok (Jang Myung-kab) to take him inside the special investigative committee's hearing as a witness.

Kim Hong-shik successfully barged into the assembly, where he tried to shoot Nam Du-heon but failed to do so. This was because he was scammed by a famous company in Busan that sold fake weapons. After this, Kim Hae-il and Kim Hong-shik had a showdown in the assembly. Later, Kim Hong-shik and Nam Du-heon were arrested.

The Fiery Priest season 3 renewal possibilities discussed

As the case was closed in the final episode of The Fiery Priest 2, Park Kyung-sun learned that many corrupt authorities kept an eye on her as she would be a threat to them. However, she had different plans and decided to resign and quit her job as a prosecutor. The Gudam crew returned to Seoul, and Park Kyung-sun, Kim Hae-il, and Gu Dae-young were having drinks, and that's when they learned that Gu Dae-young was fired through a text message.

Gu Dae-young and Kim Hae-il teased Park Kyung-sun to join politics, but she profusely declined. In the next scene, it is shown that Park Kyung-sun and the Gudam crew ran an election campaign promoting her candidacy for the position of assemblyman. Everyone eagerly awaited the election results, but it was not disclosed whether Park Kyung-sun won. Gu Dae-young and Gu Ja-young visited their hometown together after receiving an award while they bickered on their way as an aunt and a nephew.

By the end of The Fiery Priest 2, Kim Hae-il received a token of friendship and appreciation from the pope for fulfilling his duty as the bellator alongside his comites, aka the Gudam crew. The Fiery Priest 2 closed with the scene where a group of men were forcing a woman to film an explicit video in a car. Kim Hae-il jumps into the car and fights against the men to save the lady.

The Fiery Priest 2 gave closure to all the characters in the second of The Fiery Priest; however, it is yet to be seen whether the show will get a third season. Meanwhile, the show is available to stream on Disney+.
