The Fiery Priest 2 starring Kim Nam-gil, Honey Lee, Kim Sung-kyun, BIBI, and more aired episodes 1 and 2 on November 8 and 9 respectively on SBS. The Fiery Priest 2 episode 1 began with Kim Hae-il aka Michael played by Kim Nam-gil fighting against a bunch of goons who attempted to take over a temple by throwing the monks out.
The goons were caught as Abbott revealed recording the incident wearing a glasses camera, and the scene was finally closed. Kim Hae-il bumped into middle schooler Lee Sang-yeon (Moon Woo-jin) outside the police station. Lee Sang-yeon informed Kim Hae-il about the goons.
After having a chaotic dinner with Lee Sang-yeon, Kim Hae-il returned home with Gu Dae-young (Kim Sung-kyun), now the team leads at the violent crimes department of Gudam Police Station. The same night, Lee Sang-yeon is attacked by some high school bullies.
Park Kyung-sun (Honey Lee) is in L.A. to study abroad. However, she vacationed with the excuse of being homesick. Park Kyung-sun went on a date with a man who turned out to be a drug cartel dealer. She helped the police catch him but got arrested as they assumed her to be an accomplice.
By the end of The Fiery Priest 2 episode 1, Kim Hae-il embarked on a new journey to Busan. There he would work as an instructor for yet to be ordained priests at the church.
The Fiery Priest 2 ep 1-2 recap: Kim Hae-il set to bring justice to Lee Sang-yeon
In The Fiery Priest 2 episode 1, Nam Du-heon (Seo Hyun-woo), a prosecutor in Busan helps the son of an assemblyman's son get away from the charges of assault and drug abuse. On the other hand, Lee Sang-yeon fainted in the church during Father Lee Young-joon's fifth memorial (Jung Dong-hwan).
After taking him to the hospital, Kim Hae-il and Gudam people learned that the drug hepanyl was found in his body and he was in a coma. Kim Hae-il could not believe that Lee Sang-yeon would do drug abuse as he was a nice kid who wanted to become a priest in the future.
Lee Sang-yeon’s case was transferred to a different department at the police station because Du-heon learned about this through the news. He was worried that his big plan would be hindered due to this and pulled his strings to get the case closed through a different department.
Kim Hae-il started to investigate this case himself, he tracked the bully Jang Si-tae, and found out Jang Si-tae forcefully drugged Lee Sang-yeon as he caught them selling drugs. Kim Hae-il connected the dots from Jang Si-tae to Gerald, a local drug supplier. Kim Hae-il beat Gerald up and he slipped out of Busan Fire Eel, a code for a drug supplier from Busan.
By the end of The Fiery Priest 2 episode 1, Kim Hae-il decided to leave for Busan to look into this case, leaving a message for Gudam people to not follow him as this would be a dangerous path. This made them angry, especially Gu Dae-young, for not telling them where he would go.
In The Fiery Priest 2 episode 2, Vladimir Gozhaev aka Ko Dok-seong welcomed Kim Hae-il in Busan, who now works as a loan shark. Kim Hae-il asked Ko Dok-seong to find Busan Fire Eel.
Meanwhile, Gu Dae-young called Ko Dok-seong to ask about Kim Hae-il but he denied knowing his whereabouts. Ko Dok-seong believed he successfully deceived Gu Dae-young but knew he was not telling the truth.
Nam Du-heon found the drug cartel and met with Boss Park, Busan Fire Eel, and other drug dealers. Boss Park offered him money as a bribe but he did not accept it, instead asking them to follow his instructions and also for a list of celebrities who take drugs so that he could use them in the future.
Kim Hae-il then went to the seminary and learned that the Dean and father Lee Ung-suk (Lee Dae-yeon) was strict and wanted him to focus on his work without paying attention to the secular world. Later in The Fiery Priest 2 episode 2, Park Kyung-sun was released from police custody in L.A., as Bellator helped her out. Bellator informed her that Kim Hae-il also became a Bellator four years back.
Kim Hae-il learned that he had a brain condition that was not terminal but could worsen if he continued getting head injuries. He received a call from Park Kyung-sun who thanked him for helping her out, the two bickered and agreed to see each other in South Korea once she returned.
Meanwhile, Kim Hong-Sik (Sung Joon), a drug supplier known for his work in the whole of Southeast Asia, returned to South Korea. He is fearless and dangerous as the policemen who try to increase their share of money see the scary side of him. He killed one of the policemen, declining their demand and taking over the call to make changes in their share.
Kim Hae-il met a drug addict pimp who was close to Busan Fire Eel with Ko Dok-seong's help. He was finally able to learn about Busan Fire Eel's hideout. He decided to go there with Ko Dok-seong but was surprised by Gu Dae-young, who threw a tantrum to join them. Gu Dae-young convinced his higher-ups that he was unwell and took a leave for a month.
By the end of The Fiery Priest 2 episode 2, Kim Hae-il and Gu Dae-young got into a huge fight with the goons at the hideout and caught Busan Fire Eel. However, the episode ended with a twist when Gu Ja-young who had been on an undercover mission arrested Busan Fire Eel at the scene, alongside Kim Hae-il and Gu Dae-young as they were with him too.
