The Frog starring Kim Yun-seok, Yoon Kye-sang, Go Min-si, Lee Jung-eun, and more premiered on August 23 on Netflix. The Frog follows the story of Jeon Yeong-ha, played by Kim Yun-seok, a man who runs a vacation house in the middle of the woods.
Jeon Yeong-ha’s life turns upside down as a mysterious woman named Yoo Seong-a, portrayed by Go Min-si, rents the place for a day. The Frog also follows Koo Sang-jun, depicted by Yoon Kye-sang, who ran a motel in the early 2000s in the same town.
Koo Sang-jun ended up losing everything including his family as a tragic event took place at his motel. On the other hand, Yoon Bo-min is the common link between Koo Sang-jun and Jeon Yeong-ha’s story. The character of Bomin is played by Lee Jung-eun and the younger version by Ha Yoon Kyung.

Yoon Bo-min began her career as a police officer in a substation located near Koo Sang-jun’s motel, marking it her first case. She was transferred to the same station twenty years later, when Jeon Yeong-ha runs the vacation house.

Koo Sang-jun & the motel
In the first episode of The Frog, Koo Sang-jun and his wife Seo Eun-gyeong (Ryu Hyun-kyung) run a motel named Lake View in a rural town in South Korea. On a rainy day, Koo Sang-jun saw a stranger Ji Hyang-cheol (Hong Ki-joon) driving by the area and insisted that he book a room in the motel.
That night, Koo Sang-jun had a beer and fell asleep at the reception. Meanwhile, Ji Hyang-cheol kidnapped a lady and murdered her in the motel. The next day, Her body was found by Seo Eun-gyeong and she reported it to the police.
The press was quick to find this out and the motel was surrounded by them, circulating the news quickly. Ji Hyang-cheol was also caught by the police. This incident ruined Koo Sang-jun’s life as the motel went out of business because no one wanted to stay there.
Seo Eun-gyeong battled mental health issues and became an alcoholic, she later committed suicide in the room where Ji Hyang-cheol murdered the lady.
Koo Sang-jun was stuck in the past for the rest of his life. Their son Koo Gi-ho was raised by his friend Park Jong-du (Park Ji-hwan) and Jong-du’s mother Kim Gyeong-ok (Cha Mi-kyung).
Jeon Yeong-ha & the rental vacation house
In episode 1 of The Frog, Yoo Seong-a (Go Min-si) with her stepson Ha Si-hyeon (Jo Yeo-joon), rented out Jeon Yeong-ha's vacation house. The next day, Jeon Yeong-ha found blood on a vinyl record she had borrowed and checked the CCTV.
He found out Yoo Seong-a left the place alone without Ha Si-hyeon. However, Ha Si-hyeon was nowhere in the house. Although Jeon Yeong-ha was suspicious that Yoo Seong-a might have killed Ha Si-hyeon, he got rid of any evidence as he wanted to save his rental house.
A year later, Yoo Seong-a returned and at first, she insisted on staying there for a month every year in Summer. Yoo Seong-a later demanded that she wanted to buy the rental house from Jeon Yeong-ha. As Jeon Yeong-ha was blackmailed by Yoo Seong-a, he hesitated to contact the police and to come clean.
Connection Yoon Bo-min
One day, Jeon Yeong-ha found a picture of the Lake View motel on Yoon Bo-min's desk at the police station. Lake View Motel was Yoon Bo-min's first case as an officer.
He took away the picture, learned more about the incident, and tried to visit the place. In Episode 6 of The Frog, Jeon Yeong-ha visits the motel, where he is caught and Koo Gi-ho (EXO's Chanyeol) locks Jeon Yeong-ha up in his house.
Koo Gi-ho had been planning to kill Ji Hyang-cheol that day for a long time and he believed that Jeon Yeong-ha was a police officer. He succeeded in his plan and found out that Jeon Yeong-ha was not a police officer, so he let him go.
Jeon Yeong-ha found this suspicious and he went back to his place only to find out Koo Gi-ho's last plan to end this was to kill himself. Jeon Yeong-ha stopped him and told Koo Gi-ho that he would be his alibi and helped him clear anything related to Ji Hyang-cheol.
At the same time, Jeon Yeong-ha gets a call with shocking news about his daughter Jeon Ui-seon and Yoo Seong-a. He got furious and stole Koo Gi-ho’s riffle to get revenge against Yoo Seong-a.
