BLACKPINK’s Rosé recently opened up in a Vogue interview about one of her most memorable career moments: attending the 2021 Met Gala and meeting Rihanna. The interview, aired on YouTube on December 7, 2024, revealed Rosé’s excitement and nervousness about the encounter, which she described as a surreal experience.

She attended the 2021 Met Gala as a guest of Saint Laurent, alongside the brand's creative director, Anthony Vaccarello. Dressed in a chic Saint Laurent design, she became the first BLACKPINK member to attend the prestigious event, themed “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.”

The APT. singer-songwriter recalled the awe she felt in Rihanna's presence. She humorously added that she was reluctant to wash her hands after shaking Rihanna’s and said:

"The guard asked her 'Do you know BLACKPINK Rose?' She literally turns around, grabs both my hands. And she was like, ‘I know you. You guys are doing so well. Keep up the good job.’ And she gave me the biggest hug. I didn't know what to say. I remember being sad washing my hands."

The interaction marked a significant moment for Rosé, a longtime admirer of Rihanna's music and fashion. The BLACKPINK star described Rihanna as “a living legend” and said the brief interaction inspired her to push the boundaries of her own artistry.

Fans took social media by storm and shared the BLACKPINK star's joy over meeting Rihanna. One fan wrote on X:

"BYE THE QUEEN KNOWS BLACKPINK WE WIN"

Fans cheered to hear the behind-the-scene story from the BLACKPINK idol's 2021 MET Gala appearance.

"Rihanna and Beyoncé both fw blackpink like those girls were truly destined," one fan wrote.

"LMAO not her being sad washing hands, same girl. Same" another fan wrote.
"Her story telling this past months has been really fun to watch." one other fan added.

BLACKPINK’s Rosé releases solo album rosie, exploring themes of love and heartbreak

Rosé's debut solo album, rosie, dives deep into themes of love, heartbreak, and personal growth, drawing inspiration from her experiences, including past toxic relationships. In interviews promoting the album, she shared how these relationships served as creative fuel for her songwriting.

Speaking with Paper Magazine, she reflected on the universal struggles of navigating her twenties, describing it as a time marked by vulnerability, confusion, and emotional highs and lows. The idol shared:

“I think I'm grateful enough to have gone through a few relationships, you know, like a normal girl in her 20s. I do want people to understand that I'm not much different from your average girlfriend, or 23-year-old girl.”

She continued:

“I'm probably very relatable if you listen to my songs, and if anyone's been in that kind of a relationship. It doesn't even have to be about a boyfriend, just any type of toxic relationship.”

Meanwhile, the 12-track album showcases Rosé’s growth as an artist, blending intimate lyrics with diverse musical styles. The album’s pre-release single, APT., a duet with Bruno Mars, debuted at the top of the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global 200 (Excl. US) charts.

Each track delved into personal themes, from lingering heartbreak in Stay a Little Longer to playful self-empowerment in Gameboy.

Fans lauded rosie as a strong debut that cements the BLACKPINK idol's individuality as a solo artist. The album is available on major music streaming platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, and more.
