On Sunday, October 27, 2024, DAZED Korea aired an interview clip of the Love in the Big City cast and directors on YouTube.

In the interview, director Hong Ji-young, who directed episodes 5 and 6 of the popular TVING K-drama based on Park Sung-young's 2019 novel, revealed how Nam Yoon-su and Jin Ho-eun improvised the curtain scene.

Calling it one of her favorite moments from episodes 5 and 6, Hong Ji-young said,

"I like the curtain scene. 'This scene is entirely up to you guys. Try to freely express the mood you're in.' That's what I said. To be honest, they exceeded my expectations. So it became a scene I really loved. In some ways, the drama Love in the Big City is very faithful to the original work. I think it is the part most faithful to the original work."

For the unversed, the curtain scene from episode 6 shows Gyu-ho (Jin Ho-eun) traveling two hours from Incheon to Seoul to put curtains on Go Young's (Nam Yoon-su) windows so that later could sleep properly.

After putting up the curtains, Go Young hugs Gyu-ho from the back when the latter turns to face him and starts counting the moles on Go Young's face. The two then end up kissing.

Fans have praised the scene as one of the most beautifully portrayed moments of the K-drama released on October 21, 2024. Meanwhile, after learning the behind-the-scenes story of the scene via a DAZED Korea interview, fans were stunned. One fan wrote on X,

"It's my favourite scene from the drama. It's very romantic and idk why but I get so much butterflies in my stomach, no matter how many times I Watch it. This is love. They did amazing."

Viewers lauded Nam Yoon-su and Jin Ho-eun for creating the entire scene by themselves.

"Give me more behind the scenes pls!!! It’s been 5 days and I haven’t moved on," a fan wrote.
"I can't wrap my head around the fact that that was improvised. the mole counting sounds cheesy, like something from a novel and they just came up with it??? I salute yoonsu and heoun for not catching feelings after that," another fan wrote.
"The director of ep 5&6 told that this scene was improvised by Yoonsu and Hoeun and they exceeded her expectation and became one of the precious scene for her. *Goodbye I'm not okay with these information*," another fan added.

Others highlighted how director Hong Ji-young chose Joji's Glimpse of Us track to use as the background score for the curtain scene in Love in the Big City episode 5. Fans mentioned that actor Jin Ho-eun even posted pictures on his Instagram account with the song.

"Just watched the full interview. I'm amazed by how the different directors understood their assignment, respected the original work, tried to be as faithful as possible to it, and brought such a beautiful story to life. LITBC deserves all the awards!!" one fan commented.
"Miss maam chose the most heart wrenching song for the most heart wrenching story. POETIC CINEMA MY GOD," another fan said.
"After this information the song will hit different. The fact that Jinhoeun always posted Gyuho and Goyoung's photo on ig with this song *crying in the corner*," one other fan remarked.
