Several top-ranking K-pop acts are lighting up the global music scene again, with the Billboard World Album chart showcasing a dynamic mix of new releases from some of the genre's most influential artists.

Stray Kids created history with their record-breaking mini-album ATE, which topped the Billboard 200. It became the first album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard World Album Chart. On the other hand, BTS' Jimin experimented with fresh sounds in his latest release, Muse, another top-ranking K-pop act featured on Billboard.

Several other K-pop albums were featured in the Billboard World Album in August 2024. More details are listed below.

1) Ate - Stray Kids

At the Billboard World album, Stray Kids made a debut, ranking at the top. This top-ranking popular K-pop group achieved a historic milestone on the Billboard 200 chart with their latest mini album, ATE, released on July 19, 2024.

The song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, making Stray Kids the first group in history to have five consecutive albums debut at the top of the chart. This achievement also makes them the first group from any country and the second artist overall to achieve this feat.

The album features four tracks- Mountains, JJam, I Like It, and Chk Chk Boom. Among them, the track Chk Chk Boom became one of the top-ranking K-pop acts that debuted at No. 30 on the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100. Apart from that, this track remained in the top 40 of the Billboard 200 for five consecutive weeks.

In its first week, the album sold 232,000 album units in the US, with 218,000 being pure album sales, making it the highest-selling K-pop album of 2024 and the sixth highest-selling album of the year globally.

2) Muse by Jimin

BTS' Jimin's latest album, Muse, ranks second on the Billboard World Album, marking a significant milestone in his career. Released in June, this track has featured Loco and Sofia Carson, allowing Jimin to experiment with bold new sounds and styles.

Before the release of Stray Kids and Joe Jonas' latest albums, Muse popped in the Billboard poll for favorite new music and became one of the top-ranking K-pop artists on Billboard. The EP earned 96,000 equivalent album units in its first week, including 74,000 in pure sales, and saw substantial streaming numbers across platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.

Muse explores love and inspiration through seven diverse tracks, showcasing Jimin's versatility as an artist who defies genre boundaries. The album incorporates R&B, light hip-hop, Latin, and Afrobeat, with Jimin co-writing six of seven tracks.

3) Romance: Untold by ENHYPEN

The latest ENHYPEN album, Romance: Untold, ranks 3rd at the Billboard World Album, marking the first instance of such a trend since May 29, 2021. This top-ranking K-pop track, released on July 27, 2024, debuted at the top position in Billboard's Top Album Sales Chart.

This album is the group's second No. 1 on the chart and their seventh top 10 entry overall. The sales success of Romance: Untold was bolstered by its availability in 17 different CD variants, each featuring collectible items like photo cards, stickers, and posters, along with two vinyl editions.

Romance: Untold showcases ENHYPEN's exploration of various genres, featuring eight tracks created in collaboration with top K-pop and pop hitmakers.

4) Armageddon by aespa

Ranking at the 9th position on the Billboard World album, Armageddon track was released on May 27, 2024. The album's title track explores themes of self-discovery within a multiverse.

The release of Armageddon marks a significant milestone for aespa, with the album surpassing 1 million in preorders, reflecting the group's growing global influence.

Supernova, one of the buzz tracks, speaks of opening doors to different dimensions. The track debuted at No. 5 on the World Digital Song Sales chart and reached No. 19 on the Billboard Global 200, marking aespa's first Top 20 single since 2021.

The album features a variety of tracks, including the singles Armageddon and Supernova, along with other songs such as Live My Life, Mine, and the fan-dedicated anthem Melody. These tracks showcase a more extensive range of sounds and themes, reflecting aespa's artistic growth and versatility, making Armageddon a significant addition to their musical journey.

5) 17 is Right Here by SEVENTEEN

Another top-ranking K-pop track, 17 IS RIGHT HERE, ranked 10th at the Billboard World Album. This track, released in April 2024, is a compilation of several hit songs.

17 IS RIGHT HERE secured the No. 5 spot on the Billboard 200 Chart and remained at this position for the fifth consecutive type. With this debut, the thirteen-member band marked their seventh entry overall.

This top-ranking K-pop album features new and old tracks, including four new songs and Korean versions of eight previously released Japanese singles. Additionally, it includes 20 singles from their past Korean releases, along with a digital-only instrumental version of their debut single, Adore You.

The album earned 53,000 equivalent album units in the week ending May 9, 2024. This includes 49,000 traditional album sales and 4,000 streaming equivalent album (SEA) units, equating to an impressive 5.5 million on-demand audio streams during that week, according to Luminate.


Apart from these top-ranking K-pop albums, several other top-ranking K-pop acts have been featured in the Billboard chart. Red Velvet's latest release, Cosmic, remained in the Billboard World Album for the second week. BTS' anthology album, PROOF, also debuted in this chart.

As these top-ranking K-pop releases continue to climb the charts, they underscore K-pop's unparalleled influence and the genre's ever-growing fanbase worldwide.
