The K-pop boy group, Stray Kids, and the American actor, Ryan Reynolds, are one of the most unexpected crossovers in the entertainment industry. Their interactions first began in 2021 when the K-pop group rolled out a Deadpool-inspired performance during their participation in the reality survival show, Kingdom.

When he came across the performance, Ryan Reynolds was grateful and commended the members. From there, the two parties had several exchanges that showed them to be super fans of each other. Some of them included interviewing each other during project releases like Ryan's Free Guy and Stray Kids' NO EASY comeback, sending each other gifts, and supporting each other's works online.

Fans have loved and cherished their friendship, and have been hoping for a collaboration between them. After years, fans' prayers have finally been answered. Not only did Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman make a guest appearance on Stray Kids' recent title track MV, Chk Ch Boom, but the group also rolled out an OST track, SLASH, for the Deadpool 3 movie.

1) Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's cameo in Stray Kids Chk Chk Boom MV

On July 19, Stray Kids released the music video for their title track, Chk Chk Boom. During the same, the two actors in the latest Deadpool movie, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds made a hilarious cameo.

At the beginning of the music video, the two actors entered the music video acting as a weather reporter and news reader. Soon after their announcement on the weather report, the song, Chk Chk Boom, starts to play.


2) Ryan praising his love for Stray Kids during his time in Korea

Before the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, the cast came to Korea to promote their then-upcoming film. During a press conference held, one of the reporters commented about how Ryan Reynolds received a Hanbok from the same designer who created BLACKPINK's Coachella outfits.

As a reply, the actor stated that he loved BLACKPINK. However, he continued to add that he also loved Stray Kids and is a great fan of them.

"I love BLACKPINK. Also Stray Kids. I love Stray Kids."

3) "The kids might want selfies"— Bang Chan to Ryan at the Chk Chk Boom MV set

In the behind-the-scenes footage for the Chk Chk Boom music video shooting, quite a handful of moments between Ryan Reynolds and the Stray Kids members made their way to the internet. One of them showcased a conversation between Ryan and Bang Chan.

After they finished the shoot, Bang Chan hugged Ryan and followed up with the following sentence,

"The kids might want selfies"

The idol was referring to his fellow Stray Kids members, who were waiting with their phones to click a few selfies with the actor.


4) Stray Kids' Felix and Bang Chan's Marvel Korea interview with the Deadpool & Wolverine cast

One of the many promotional content that was rolled out in Korea for Deadpool & Wolverine was an interview session between the movie's main cast and two Stray Kids members.

Bang Chan and Felix interviewed Hug Jackman and Ryan Reynolds and during the same, they reacted to the two's cameo in Chk Chk Boom, talked about Deadpool & Wolverine's creation, and more. Hugh and Ryan stated that it was their childhood dream to appear in a music video.

As a reply, Bang Chan and Felix immediately expressed it was their childhood dream to work with Deadpool and Wolverine. Additionally, the two stated that they benefited a lot from the cameo and were grateful for it. Hilariously, Ryan also added that Marvel has no idea about the Chk Chk Boom cameo.

"Probably my favorite thing about this is that Marvel has no idea I did that."

Bang Chan and Felix immediately gasped in disbelief.


5) Bang Chan thanking Ryan for participating in STAY Selca Day

In September 2022, as the two parties began to interact with each other virtually, Ryan Reynolds proved his stance as a loyal fan of the K-pop boy group. During STAY Selca Day, a day when the fans of the group post a picture of themselves with a Stray Kids song, Ryan is also seen participating.

He posted a picture of himself with Red Lights by Hyunjin and Bang Chan, and fans were shocked by the unexpected post. When Bang Chan came across this post, he thanked the actor for his participation during his then-weekly livestream, Chan's Room.


6) Ryan and Bang Chan's first video call interview

The first time Ryan and Bang Chan interacted online was through an interview session. In 2021, when Ryan released his film, Free Guy, the Stray Kids' leader, Bang Chan interviewed the actor.

While the interview majorly focused on the movie and its intricacies, the two also spent much time complimenting and expressing how they were great fans of each other. Ryan stated that it was an honor to finally interact with Bang Chan, and also shared that he watched the NO EASY teasers, the then-comeback of Stray Kids, multiple times.

"You guys do this amazing thing where you kind of blend music with like the action genre. Which is something I don't see a lot of people do."
