On January 17, 2025, Times Square lit up with an advertisement for j-hope's HOPE ON THE STAGE TOUR US. A video showcasing his performance from Lollapalooza 2022 played on the screen, accompanied by a red banner displaying the tour poster, complete with the concert name and date.
A video of the display quickly went viral, amplifying excitement and anxiety within the BTS fandom. ARMYs, BTS's fanbase, took to social media to hilariously plead with j-hope to stop promoting the tour.
Their concern stemmed from the rapid expansion of the fandom due to BTS's solo activities during their military era, fearing that ticket availability might not meet the overwhelming demand. A fan posted on X:
"This looks so cool but please Hobi don’t attract any more attention we’re in a battle as it is for tkts come Wednesday 😭"
The fan comments kept rolling as they urged others to "gatekeep" the date for the ticket sales.
"What are they thinking, stop telling people about the NY shows I’m trying to get tickets 😭" shared an ARMY.
"Ok that's enough. Let's gatekeep when tickets are going on sale please 😂" wrote one netizen.
"Hobby advertisement in Times Square 🌟 The date and time for general ticket sales has been announced, but they will be sold out by the fan club😖 Do you really think that Hive won't sell?😳" said this individual on X.
"Hobi please stop promoting. It is a hopeless battle for the tickets anyway. It's about to get brutal here!😭😭🤧" read one comment.
However, many ARMYs also shared their excitement, expressing their eagerness to see j-hope on stage once again.
"I'm so excited for this tour, especially because Hobi has been missing for a while now. I want to catch up on the longing." Posted this ARMY.
"Wow. I was also able to get VIP tickets for the last day of the Seoul concert, and I am even more excited to see the NY ad. I hope more and more of his fans can get tickets.🔎✨" shared one individual on X.
"Look at the Lola video below, Live Nation is doing a good job promoting it" mentioned this X user.
"Hobi should do a surprise performance also (like JK) near that billboard.. T S X 💜😂💜" added another ARMY.
