The Disney+ original series Gangnam B-side, produced by Plus M, has achieved remarkable success since its release. On November 9, 2024, FlixPatrol, a content ranking site for OTT platforms, released its statistics for the most-watched shows on Disney+ from the previous day.

According to the content viewing ranking site, Gangnam B-side topped the Disney+ TV show category in seven countries. Following the release of the drama's first two episodes on November 6, the series ranked number one in the Disney+ TV show category in Korea, Greece, Hong Kong, Japan, Malta, Singapore, and Taiwan.

Fans have been buzzing with excitement over Gangnam B-side's success on Disney's top 10 list. Many are thrilled to see the drama break new ground. One fan on X tweeted:

As per FlixPatrol, the series also made it to the top 9 in the Disney+ Worldwide TV Show category, surpassing the American comedy television series Wizards Beyond Waverly Place (2024). The list was topped by Agatha All Along (2024), followed by other shows such as The Old Man (2022), Grotesquerie (2024), and others.

Gangnam B-side is currently the only Asian content in the top 10 rankings. This series is also the only Korean drama, following the 2023 South Korean drama Moving, to secure a spot on Disney's top 10 list.

Gangnam B-Side is an ongoing South Korean crime thriller that stars Ji Chang-wook, BIBI, Ha Yoon-kyung, Kim Hyeong-seo, and Jo Woo-jin. The series is written and directed by Park Noo-ri and Joo Won-gyu. Park Noo-ri previously won the Best New Director Award at the 40th Golden Cinematography Awards for his 2019 South Korean action crime film Money.

The synopsis of Gangnam B-side reads:

"Kang Dong-woo, who led a police corruption probe, is rejected by his peers and estranged from his family. He relocates to a quiet rural area. However, he is soon drawn back into the shady side of Gangnam when his daughter’s friend, Kim Jae-hee, goes missing."

It continues:

"With the help of broker Yoon Gil-ho and prosecutor Min Seo-jin, Dong-woo reenters the world of vice, narcotics, and corruption. Together, they uncover a plot that could take down some of the wealthiest elites in the city."

Set against the backdrop of Gangnam, the series follows Detective Kang, outlaw Yoon, and Prosecutor Min as they pursue a mysterious connection. A series of disappearances shakes the district, with Jae-hee, an employee at a popular bar, holding a secret tied to the cases. But she too vanishes. Detective Kang Dong-woo, once demoted, returns to investigate.

Yoon Gil-ho, a notorious figure in Gangnam, becomes a prime suspect. Prosecutor Min Seo-jin sees the case as a chance to climb the career ladder. Together, they pursue the truth, each for their own reasons.

Additionally, the crime thriller series is one of six dramas selected for the 29th Busan Film Festival, alongside three other Korean (Hellbound season 2, Dongjae, the Good, or the Bastard) and two international dramas.


Gangnam B-Side has a total of 8 episodes. Two episodes have been released so far. The series premiered on Disney+ on November 6, 2024, with new episodes airing every Wednesday.
