What Comes After Love, starring Lee Se-young and Sakaguchi Kentaro, dropped episode 3 on Coupang Play on Friday, October 4, 2024. Episode 3 of the drama picks up from the previous episode, where Jungo (Sakaguchi Kentaro) stopped Hong’s (Lee Se-young) car. Hong was on a call with Min-jun (Hong Jong-hyun) while driving when Jungo suddenly appeared in front of her moving car.
Later, Jungo sat in the car and remained silent for a while before Hong asked him if he wished to share anything with her. Jungo tried to convey that he was not over her and that their coincidental meeting in Korea after five years was a precious chance for him. Hong stopped him and said she was going to get married. Hong also said that she had a lot of questions for him but forgot about them with time.

After he left, Hong realized that she couldn't forget him too. By the end of What Comes After Love episode 3, Jungo's ex-girlfriend, Kanna (Anne Nakamura), whom he dated before Hong, visited him at his hotel room in Korea. She hugged him and asked him to marry her.
What Comes After Love episode 3 recap: Hong feels lonely in Japan as Jungo spends most of his time at work
In episode 3 of What Comes After Love, after Hong parted ways with Jungo in 2019, she returned to South Korea. On her way back, she wondered why Jungo did not hold her back or look for her. As she landed, she learned that her father was unwell.
After Hong's father's publishing house collapsed, she started working there to stabilize the business. In the present, Jungo met Miyazawa Hiroko, the interpreter, and asked her for Hong's contact number but she could not give it to him. However, she told him where Hong lived.
After Jungo's interview, Kanna surprised him, who also worked at the publication house responsible for his novel. While Jungo had a hard time after breaking up with Hong in the past, Kanna showed interest in getting back with him.
Meanwhile, Hong, along with Min-jun and her friend Ji-hee (Park Mi-ram), went to buy her wedding dress. However, she seemed lost the entire time and failed to choose the best fit. She also recalled a happy memory of trying on an off-shoulder wedding dress with Jungo in the past.
This was followed by Hong and Ji-hee having drinks at a restaurant, where she informed the latter about Jungo being in Korea. Hong recalled feeling lonely even when she was in a relationship with Jungo.
Hong had felt alone when Ji-hee returned to Korea from Japan, and during her family issues, she had no one to confide in as Jungo was busy with work. One of the scenes in What Comes After Love episode 3 depicts Jungo trying to leave early from work early but could not as his boss asked him for an extra favor.
In What Comes After Love episode 3, Hong then recalled a tragic incident when she was jogging as usual and was eve-teased by a drunk man. While running away from him, she fell and hurt her foot. She went to the police station and tried reaching out to Jungo but he didn't pick up. Hong went to the hospital and found out it was a minor injury but needed help getting home. She tried calling Jungo again, but there was no response.
Ultimately, she reached home with Jungo's father's help. When Jungo returned from work, Hong confronted him, saying that she had been alone this whole while and could not reach him. Jungo apologized but explained that he was working hard to gain experience and inspiration for his writing and pay his college fees. He told her that he was trying his best to stay with her, but Hong replied that she didn't think it was enough.
Later in What Comes After Love episode 3, back in the present, Hong and Ji-hee decided to go for a second round of drinks to their favorite spot and forget about Jungo. They bumped into Min-jun there and Ji-hee left the two to give them space. While having dinner, Min-jun told Hong that he waited for her for a long time and that he decided to pursue her when he saw her at the airport when returning from Japan.
Hong seemingly tried to talk about Jungo but Min-jun stopped her. He then told her that with time she might experience a change of heart and that by then, she wouldn't even remember what she was going to say.
Meanwhile, Jungo met Kanna at a cafe, where she revealed her true intentions of coming to Korea. She said that she had been waiting for him to fall back in love with her for five years. However, Jungo did not seem comfortable. Kanna then asked if he had met Hong, to which he didn't respond.
What Comes After Love episode 3 ended on a cliffhanger with Kanna proposing to Jungo for marriage; however, he has yet to respond. What Comes After Love airs every Friday at 8 pm KST on Coupang Play and later on Rakuten Viki.
