What Comes After Love episode 4 recap: Jungo struggles to let go while Hong tries to erase her old version

What Comes After Love starring Lee Se-young and Sakaguchi Kentaro aired episode 4 on October 12, 2024, on Coupang Play. Episode 4 of What Comes After Love revealed that Jungo (Sakaguchi Kentaro) did not reciprocate Kanna's (Anne Nakamura) feelings, he also declined her marriage proposal.

Jungo still had lingering feelings for Hong, even though she was going to get married soon. The next day, Jungo visited the lake around Hong's (Lee Se-young) house. He did not expect to see Hong jogging around the lake, but they came across each other.

Hong used to stop whenever she saw Jungo while jogging and greet him with a bright smile. However, unlike when they were dating, this time she saw him but did not stop. Later, at home, her sister Rok (Lee So-hee) requested Hong for her guitar for a shoot. Hong agreed and Rok was surprised as Hong would not let her touch her guitar in the past.

Hong realized that she could not forget about the time she spent with Jungo. In an attempt to erase her old version that loved Jungo, Hong locked all of their shared belongings including her guitar, gifts, and everything that reminded her of Jungo in the store room.

Jungo missed Hong's boss' wedding leaving her in a fury in What Comes After Love episode 4

In What Comes After Love episode 4, it is shown that five years ago Hong was invited to her boss's wedding which made her emotional as she felt lonely without family and friends in Japan. Her boss's gesture made her feel at home, at the same time Jungo was also invited to the wedding.

Hong asked Jungo about Japanese weddings but he said it was probably similar to Korean weddings and was not helpful. Hong learned about Japanese wedding culture through her friend and prepared accordingly. One day while strolling the streets of Japan, Hong amusingly informed Jungo that he was not helpful and also shared that she wanted a minimalist wedding like the film About Time.

On the wedding day, Hong reached the venue before Jungo as he had to go for a job interview at a publishing house. Jungo got the job but he was asked to start immediately so he missed the wedding. Hong sang About Time OST How Long Will I Love You for the bride and the groom, seemingly waiting for Jungo but he could not make it. Jungo reached the venue once the ceremony was over and after reaching home he explained the same to Hong.

Hong and Jungo got into another argument. Hong got Jungo’s return gift from the wedding and he did not appreciate it as it would be rude because he did not pay any congratulatory money. This made Hong furious and she replied that he should have come if he was so well mannered.

In What Comes After Love episode 4, Rok gave Hong a letter she found in her guitar case which was from Jungo but she did not seem to be interested in reading it. In the present, one of Hong's colleagues asked her for gift suggestions as it was author Sasae's (Jungo) birthday.

This was because she studied in Japan for a while, however, Hong refused to suggest anything stating that she did not see any connection between studying in Japan and author Sasae's birthday. She was reminded of Jungo's birthday she celebrated in Japan and it was a happy memory for her.

That birthday she learned a lot about Jungo because he was not good at expressing his feelings. Hong recollected that they used to talk about stars and poetries to share their feelings and Jungo promised to write a book on her one day expressing his sincere feelings.

Hong said she could not wait to read a novel about her. She remembered that back then she could not buy him his favorite cake and promised to do it next time. While narrating about this memory Hong stated that they were blindly in love with each other and went above and beyond to avoid their problems but in return, those issues turned into a snowball and buried them inside.

By the end of What Comes After Love episode 4, Hong attended Jungo's book concert where he revealed that there was no big message behind the book. The book was based on his memories with one person and his sincere feelings for them. He added that if that person would read it he wanted them to know that he was young and inexperienced when they were together.

Hong bought merch from Jungo's book concert and left the venue. Surprisingly, Song Min-jun (Hong Jong-hyun), who is Hong's fiancé, was in Jungo’s book signing queue. During his turn, Song Min-jun asked Jungo if he knew Hong and he replied with a yes. What Comes After Love episode 4 further creates suspense with Hong opens the letter she received from Jungo. It is yet to be seen what happens next on What Comes After Love.
