On December 7, VCHA's KG declared her exit from the female K-pop group after ending her contract with JYPE. In her recent Instagram Story, KG Crown revealed that she initiated legal action against the company, accusing them of abuse and mistreatment.
Following this revelation, a document supporting her legal action surfaced on the internet. One point in the document showed that a VCHA member allegedly attempted suicide by ingesting multiple NyQuil pills, following the development of an eating disorder.
For those unaware, NyQuil pill is a combination drug utilized for the temporary relief of symptoms associated with common cold, influenza, allergies, or other respiratory conditions, including sinusitis and bronchitis.
The court record detailed that KG and her underage peers experienced significant mental and emotional distress, leading some to engage in self-harm. KG observed a VCHA member suffer from an eating issue, culminating in a suicide attempt in February 2024.
Following the use of 42 NyQuil pills, the individual started uncontrollably vomiting, which KG noticed.
Despite KG and others expressing concerns to JYPE, the staff allegedly refused to listen, asserting that eating disorders are common. JYPE also allegedly covered up the suicide attempt, directing the girls to fabricate the truth regarding it.
Erik Winston then acknowledged that he had been deceived and was made aware that the member's ailment was food poisoning.
Besides the legal document, KG also reiterated her displeasure of the working and living conditions that led to one of the members attempting suicide in her Instagram story. She also voiced her opposition to an environment in which members attempted to harm themselves.
VCHA’s KG’s allegations were supported by a 77-page lawsuit document
The charges of KG Crown, a 17-year-old member of VCHA, were substantiated by a comprehensive 77-page lawsuit detailing the bullying and abuse she endured from JYPE staff members.
As stated in the lawsuit, JYPE, aka JYP Entertainment, consistently monitored KG and her fellow singers.
Covert cameras, including one situated in the dining room featuring an 8 Megapixel resolution and a 120-degree wide-angle lens, captured their private discussions and meals without their consent.
On September 14, 2023, KG was compelled to reiterate a dance movement numerous times while maintaining a squat position. Despite experiencing discomfort, she was allegedly refused a water break.
This allegedly resulted in a torn tendon in her shoulder; yet, she was forced to persist in her professional life without adequate healing time and was scheduled to resume full training following hospital treatment.
In April 2024, JYPE claimed that KG's efforts had culminated in an accumulated net income of around -$504,543, indicating that she gained nothing from her hard work and was instead informed that she owed them money.
Although JYPE reported profits during this period, their allegedly ambiguous accounting rendered it impossible for KG to claim what she deserved.
KG and her peers were deprived of adequate meals in accordance with JYPE's policy aimed at maintaining extremely lean physiques. Therefore, food was restricted, and VCHA members were frequently forbidden from eating or resting.
Many other reasons and instances of mistreatment are mentioned in the lawsuit document.
In related news, VCHA has been inactive since May of this year. In July 2024, the girl group also retracted their name from the performance roster for the 2024 Lollapalooza event.
