On August 28, Netflix announced that Gyeongseong Creature season 2 will be released on Saturday, September 27 at 12.30 pm KST. Starring Park Seo-joon, Han So-hee, Lee Mu-saeng, and Bae Hyun-sung, Gyeongseong Creature season 1 was set in the Spring of 1945.
In the season, Jang Tae-sang (Park Seo-joon) and Yoon Chae-ok (Han So-hee) fought against a monster born out of human greed. The upcoming season will be set in Seoul in 2024, and it will be about a man named Ho-jae who looks exactly like Jang Tae-sang.
Meanwhile, Yoon Chae-ok (Han So-hee), who managed to survive the difficult events of 1945, bumps into Ho-jae while navigating her life in Seoul in 2024. Netflix described the upcoming season as follows:

In the highly anticipated fantasy action drama, Itaewon Class star Park Seo-joon will play the role of Ho-jae, a mysterious man who has a striking resemblance with Jang Tae-sang, the owner of the biggest pawn shop in Gyeongseong, 1945. Curiosity about his character has been increasing among viewers regarding what secret he has been hiding.
Actress Han So-hee’s character Yoon Chae-ok, seemingly adapted to the new world of 2024 in Seoul. Questions regarding Yoon Chae-ok's survival after she drank Najin in the final episode of the pilot season have been raised. Viewers have also questioned what she has been doing this entire time in Seoul.
Gyeongseong Creature season 2 will introduce two new characters — Kuroko Leader, played by actor Lee Mu-saeng, and Seung-jo depicted by Our Blues actor Bae Hyun-sung. Kuroko leader commands an elite group of people called “Kuroko”, who follow discreet orders.
Kuroko leader makes evil plans in the lab of Jeonseung Biotech. Meanwhile, Seung-jo follows Ho-jae and Yoon Chae-ok. Besides this, not much has been revealed about this mysterious character. In the trailer, Yoon Chae-ok happens to recollect her past and finds herself in modern-day Seoul. She comes across Jang Ho-jae, who looks very similar to Jang Tae-sang.
The new character, Kuroko Leader, is seen doing experiments that may lead to similar tragic events that occurred in the past involving dangerous monsters. Yoon Chae-ok expresses her fears of cultivating a dream in a hopeless world. According to Netflix, the intense action in the trailer for the upcoming season is described as:
“The preview hints at explosive action and a desperate battle that transcends time periods, raising the question: How will the entwined relationships, fates, and karma from Gyeongseong come to a head in Seoul?”
Gyeongseong Creature is helmed in collaboration by Hot Stove League director Jung Dong-yoon and The Interest of Love director Jo Yeong-min. It was written by author Kang Eun-kyung, known for her work in the Dr. Romantic series, Where Star Lands, Glory Jane, and more.
Gyeongseong Creature season 2 is scheduled to air on September 27 on Netflix.
