When the Phone Rings premiered on November 22 on MBC TV and airs on Netflix in select regions. According to an exclusive from SPOTV News on November 28, the MBC network has decided to cancel scheduled episodes of the show on December 14 and 20.
The cancellation would result in a hiatus for two weeks. Episode 8 of the drama, which was expected to be released on December 14, has been shifted to December 21, consequently shifting the release date of other episodes. The show will air as per the current schedule up to episode 7.

When the Phone Rings aired its first and second episodes so far. The upcoming episodes 3 to 7 will follow their scheduled dates. However, with the preemption of the episodes on December 14 and 20, the new dates post-episode 7, are as follows:
- Episode 3 on November 29
- Episode 4 on November 30
- Episode 5 on December 6
- Episode 6 on December 7
- Episode 7 on December 13
- Episode 8 on December 21
- Episode 9 on December 27
- Episode 10 on December 28
- Episode 11 on January 3
- Episode 12 (Finale) on January 4
For two weeks, the viewers would be able to enjoy only one episode of the series. On December 14, a special documentary of Korea's first Nobel Prize winner in Literature, Han Kang, will be aired on MBC TV. On December 20, the channel will air a recap of the show starting from episodes 1 to 7.

When the Phone Rings has earned fourth place on Netflix Global TV (Non-English) with the release of only two episodes. With 3.3 million views the series earned the highest first-week viewership for a non-original Netflix drama.
Written by Kim Ji-woon and directed by Park Sang-woo and Wi Deuk-gyu, When the Phone Rings is an ongoing MBC rom-com that stars Hospital Playlist's Yoo Yeon-seok and I'm Not a Robot's Chae Soo-bin as the protagonists.
Your Honor's Heo Nam-ju and Cheer Up's Jang Gyu-ri are also featured in the drama as the main cast. The series is an adaptation of a popular Kakao Page web novel, The Number You Have Dialed, by Geon Eomul-nyeo.
