BTS Jungkook might have found his lookalike in the form of Andrew Alexander, a 20-year-old college student from the United States. The lookalike competition was held in New York on November 24.
Netizens were quick to react to this news. While many found similarities between the BTS singer and Alexander, some fans left hilarious comments about how the two did not look alike. One of the ARMY commented:
"somehow he has all of his features and none of them at the same time."
"Goes to show that nobody looks like the jungkook," - another ARMY reiterated.
"Is Jungkook in the room with us," - a fan asked.
Many K-pop fans recognized Andrew Alexander from the time when he was active on YouTube with his sisters Amber Alexander and Ashley Alexander, famously known as Ur Mom Ashley. While Andrew has around 262K YouTube subscribers, Ashley has around 1.7 million.
More about BTS Jungkook's lookalike Andrew Alexander
One of the videos the two siblings collaborated on was about Ashley turning Andrew Alexander into the BTS singer. The video was uploaded four years ago on July 5, 2020, and has accumulated around 2.8 million views. Hence, many K-pop fans who followed the siblings caught the reference to that video.
Fans who knew the YouTuber siblings came in defense of Andrew Alexander being declared the winner. They postulated that while they may not have physical similarities, their behavior and mannerisms are quite similar.
"andrew being the winner makes sense and is the only acceptable one out of everyone there. as someone who watched him on youtube when he was younger, he definitely gave me jungkook vibes. not really look wise, but the behaviors lol. congrats to my bro," - a netizen commented.
"everyone be nice to andrew okay he's sweet hdsgjshs i still remember his sister's "i turned my brother into bts jungkook" video during the pandemic hshaha," - an X user stated.
"i've followed the alexander siblings for so long like this is years in the making," - a fan of the siblings said.
Eyes Magazine on Instagram posted the coverage of the lookalike contest. The post said that the winner Andrew took notice of the details such as the 3D singer's piercing and hand tattoos. He took home $20 and a bottle of Korean alcohol soju as a winning prize.
BTS Jungkook had already acknowledged his lookalike in 2023
The internet hilariously presented its disappointment when it was revealed that Korean actor Shim Hyun-tak's wife, Hirai Saya, was not present for the BTS singer lookalike competition. In 2023, the Seven's singer agreed to the uncanny resemblance between the two.
ARMY funnily reacted to her absence in the BTS singer's lookalike contest. Many reacted to how the true winner of the lookalike contest had already been announced by the singer himself in 2023.
"The only lookalike who'll clean sweep the contest with flying colours,"
"she won already when jungkook acknowledged that she looks like him," - an ARMY reacted.
A lot of K-pop fans, especially the fans of boy group BOYNEXTDOOR (BND) commented that Jaehyun from BND would have won the contest if he had participated.
"She or Jaehyun from bnd (boynextdoor) would've won," - an X user commented.
Recently, at the 2024 MAMA Awards held on November 23, Standing Next To You's singer won big with the Best Male Artist award and Best Dance Performance Male Solo award. He also bagged the Fans' Choice award, totaling three awards in a single ceremony.
The singer is currently fulfilling his mandatory military service and is expected to return around June 2025.
