The Boyfriend cast member Usak departed the dating reality show in the fifth episode leaving fellow participants and the audience in shock. On July 16, Netflix aired the second batch of episodes including 4, 5, and 6. It showcases the progress made between cast members while also shaking the audience with the arrival of Ikuo.
In episode 5 of The Boyfriend, Usak announced his departure from the show in front of the cast members Dai, Gensei, Shun, Ryota, Kazuto, Alan, and Taeheon. He revealed that he had always known that his time on the show was limited. He stated that he had a pre-planned work trip overseas, and this was the reason behind him leaving the show.
Usak successfully shared his true feelings towards Kazuto and revealed that his mission was accomplished. Usak and the cast members were in tears as he would be missed on the show, with hugs everyone bid farewell to him.
Usak's genuine confession to Kazuto, final words on The Boyfriend, and more
In episode 4 of The Boyfriend, it was revealed that many members including the 36-year-old dancer Usak were interested in Chef Kazuto. While Kazuto quickly relayed his feelings towards Alan and the feelings were mutual, they quickly clicked.
Watching this, the same day Usak mustered up his courage and spoke to Kazuto. He told him that he liked him from the beginning but did not get the chance to tell him. This was because Kazuto was away from his work for a few days.
Usak received the opportunity to lead the coffee truck Brewtiful U and decided to go along with Kazuto, to run it in the fifth episode of The Boyfriend. Following their work, Usak and Kazuto went to the beach where they had a heartwarming conversation.
Usak revealed that he was the first person to make an impression on him, and he also made efforts to talk to him first. Kazuto's kind gestures attracted Usak. He said to Kazuto:
“I think you have a lot of wonderful sides to you.”
He was satisfied that he was able to communicate with Kazuto even though it was his last day.
Usak’s farewell with The Boyfriend’s cast
Usak, who is a widely popular Go-Go dancer in Japan entered the same-sex show. Although he could not find love but developed a good bond with cast members. He made his entry in the second episode by performing at a club, where the cast members went to have dinner.
Given his popularity, many cast members knew Usak already and were surprised to see him joining the dating show. Usak exuded a quiet and chill vibe during his stay at the Green Room contrasting to his energy on stage as a Go-Go dancer. Before leaving the show, Usak stated:
“Today, I worked at the Coffee Truck with Kazuto. I was able to accomplish my goal of conveying my feelings.”
He further added:
“I can leave here feeling positive. It doesn't matter if you're staying here for love or friendship. I think there are things you only say because it's here. I hope that all of you guys will cherish this opportunity to convey your feelings, share your thoughts and be happy… and finish your stay here at the Green Room.”
This inspired other cast members to be more honest with themselves and shoot their shots towards their crushes. Usak left behind an illustration portraying each member which made them happy.
The Boyfriend will air episodes 7 and 8 on Tuesday, July 23 on Netflix.
