As When the Phone Rings nears its conclusion with just two episodes left, fans eagerly speculate about a possible heartwarming ending, particularly as behind-the-scenes photos have surfaced online. The drama, which diverged from its original webtoon storyline, has kept viewers on the edge of their seats with its unexpected twists.

In the penultimate week's episode, Hong Hee-joo (Chae Soo-bin) makes a dramatic choice, driving a car off a cliff to protect Baek Sa-eon (Yoo Yeon-seok). While the teaser for the upcoming episode hints at the continued mystery surrounding character 406's fate, there is no further information on Hee-joo’s condition.

However, a series of recent photos from the set of When the Phone Rings, featuring unaired scenes, surfaced online, sparking speculation that the show might conclude with a heartfelt reunion.

Fueling the theories of a happy ending, a photo of Baek Sa-eon and Hong Hee-joo’s living room, featuring a Christmas tree, has been leaked. This photo has sparked fresh speculation among fans about a possible Christmas-themed episode.

Observant viewers noticed that the tree displayed a framed photo of the couple from the retreat (which happened in episode 6), fueling theories that an upcoming episode will depict them celebrating Christmas together.

These details have led many to anticipate that, despite the earlier dramatic events, the couple will reunite and celebrate these significant moments, suggesting a hopeful and joyful conclusion for the series. One fan of When the Phone Rings posted on X,

A new set of behind-the-scenes photos from When the Phone Rings showed Chae Soo-bin and Yoo Yeon-seok posing with their co-stars and crew. In one photo, Hee-joo was seen wearing a ring, leading fans to speculate that Baek Sa-eon had kept his promise and proposed to her after overcoming the challenges they faced.

Another photo showed the two actors with the crew in front of a house, sparking theories that Sa-eon and Hee-joo had moved into a new home and were possibly celebrating a housewarming in the series' final episodes.

"oh saeon and heejoo having thier house warming? CUTE 🥹" pointed out one fan of the series.
"if you think about it... these aren't the 2 ending scenes of their house warming party 🤗🤗🤗" mentioned one more viewer.

A brief overview of When the Phone Rings plot

The narrative of When the Phone Rings revolves around an arranged marriage tested by an unexpected and dangerous twist. Baek Sa-eon (Yoo Yeon-seok) is the youngest presidential spokesperson in Korea’s history, hailing from a prestigious political family.

With experience as a war correspondent, hostage negotiator, and anchorman, he is well-respected in the public eye. He married Hong Hee-joo (Chae Soo-bin) three years ago, a union driven by convenience rather than love.

Hee-joo, the daughter of a prominent newspaper owner, is a court and television sign language interpreter who suffers from selective mutism caused by a childhood accident. Despite their polished public image, the couple lives as strangers.

Their quiet and distant relationship takes a dramatic turn when Hee-joo is kidnapped by an unknown assailant, shattering the façade of their picture-perfect marriage. As the couple faces the fallout from this life-altering event, they are forced to confront their feelings and navigate a web of danger and secrets.

When the Phone Rings (Korean: 지금 거신 전화는) is written by Kim Ji-woon and co-directed by Park Sang-woo and Wi Deuk-gyu. Starring Yoo Yeon-seok, Chae Soo-bin, Heo Nam-joon, and Jang Gyu-ri, the series premiered on MBC TV on November 22, 2024.

When the Phone Rings airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 pm KST, it is also available for streaming on Netflix in select regions. The final two episodes of When the Phone Rings, episodes 11 and 12, will air on MBC on January 3 and 4 at their regular time.
