In a groundbreaking collaboration, Xbox, Netflix, and SCUF Gaming have launched a limited-edition Squid Game controller to celebrate the upcoming release of the show's season 2.

This exclusive accessory garnered attention for its striking design and scarcity, with only 456 units available—a nod to the number of contestants in the show. Also, 456 was the number of Lee Jung-jae's character Gi-hun from Squid Game.

Inspired by the Squid Game universe, the SCUF Pink Guard Instinct Pro Controller features a transparent shell adorned with the iconic Pink Guard mask motif. It is priced at $239.99, a $20 hike compared to its predecessor. It was introduced alongside the Game Over variant of the Instinct Pro in teal color.

Built for competitive gaming, it includes:

  • Customizable rear paddles for remapping functions like jumping and sliding.
  • Adjustable instant triggers for faster in-game response.
  • Interchangeable thumbsticks to optimize precision and movement.
  • A non-slip grip for high-pressure moments.

The controller’s bold design pays homage to the show's chilling aesthetics and will undoubtedly appeal to fans of both gaming and the hit Netflix series.

The Squid Game-themed controller will not be available in retail and will be released on December 20, 2024, and will only be available exclusively in the US. However, fans can win one by participating in a special event, Squid Game: The Experience, in New York City on December 16, 2024.

Xbox, Netflix, And SCUF's limited edition Squid Game Controller game prize deets

A Young-hee doll gaming cabinet was modeled like the eerie doll from the Red Light, Green Light game featured in the first season of the Netflix show. It will be the event's big prize instead of a controller. Reportedly, the cabinet is the size of a six-foot piece of furniture.

Additionally, the cabinet will include the Game Over and Pink Guard controllers, an Xbox Series X console, an Asus ROG Ally X, an Xbox Wireless Controller, and a Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 8. The prize further comes along with a coupon for a full year of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The prize's estimated retail value is $4,008.95.

The actual event will be included in the Black Ops 6 Nuketown competition. As a result, the promotion will be related to the recently announced Call of Duty and Squid Game crossover in early December 2024. Fans and gaming enthusiasts can check Microsoft's website for the official rules for the next competition.

Squid Game 2: What to expect?

Following the global success of its first season, which captivated audiences with its high-stakes survival games and social commentary, the sequel promises even more thrills.

The second installment picks up after Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), the sole survivor of the games from season 1, vows to dismantle the deadly operation. The new installment dives deeper into the shadowy organization running the competition while introducing fresh contestants and games.

Notable cast members for the second season include:

  • Im Si-wan
  • Kang Ha-neul
  • BIGBANG's T.O.P
  • Park Gyu-young
  • Park Sung-hoon
  • Lee Jin-uk
  • Jo Yu-ri
  • Wi Ha-joon
  • Gong Yoo (cameo)

The recently released trailer showcases Gi-hun’s return, haunted by his past experiences and driven to expose the sinister forces behind the games. The visuals hint at more elaborate arenas, with new challenges that test not just physical strength but emotional resilience.

In other news, the second season of the upcoming Korean series will have 7 episodes and stream globally on Netflix on December 26.
