On December 2, YG Entertainment released a video titled “TREASURE NEWS & YG 2025 PLAN,” featuring the label’s executive producer, Yang Hyun-suk. The video outlined the company's plans for 2025, focusing on the future activities of its idol groups, including TREASURE.
However, the announcement sparked backlash from fans, who criticized it for being overly vague and prioritizing certain groups while neglecting others. Fans expressed frustration over inconsistent management and poor promotion for various groups. One netizen wrote on X:
"Why don't you change your marketing team and some staff and as well as you instead? You have the dumbest idea of all"
Many netizens questioned why the announcement from YG Entertainment lacked concrete details for most groups.
"All I care about from this company is AKMU, but they always gave 0 information about them. AKMU right now is doing fanmeet&concert in many Asia countries. Does muggles know about that? No. Good Job, YG. Honestly, as a fans, I'm so dissappointed with this company," wrote a AKMU fan.
"2NE1 not mentioned in YG's 2025 plans. Since it's like that I really hope the girlies are getting most of the tour profits," commented one 2NE1 fan on X.
"next year YG will release a new boygroup and babymonster will be abandoned after their Worldtour is over, their fate will be like Treasure abandoned by YG and they will be forgotten later," shared a BABYMONSTER fan.
"Stop with that tour for now f**k! Prioritize giving Bp 2 comebacks this 2025 for them to get their long overdue rightfully deserved daesangs," said this BLACKPINK fan.
Meanwhile, TREASURE fans expressed disappointment over the lack of concrete schedules despite the promises made for the group's activities.
"I'm happy but I'm also speechless That's not the news we wanted, YG! Just empty promises again? Treasure deserves better ! The world tour has been postponed and not confirmed (again!?) Why new leaders? (we love them but why?) And what happened to the promised fall album!?" a fan wrote.
"I've seen 'YG's' planning video but they didn't mention a world tour in Europe and America? Do they think Treasure doesn't have fans in Europe? How can Treasure grow at the end of the contract if 'YG' doesn't support them? European, fans also want a world tour, not just Asia," another fan commented.
"This should be a video for TREASURE only. I don't care about your YG plans. You failed a lot of us as Yg stans for years. TREASURE DESERVE BETTER TREASURE DESERVE BETTER," another person remarked.
"stop wasting their potential! treasure deserves better. promote them better and stop giving us empty promises ‼️‼️," one person on X wrote.
YG Entertainment unveils 2025 plans: New music, leadership changes, global tours, and more
YG Entertainment uploaded a video titled "TREASURE NEWS & 2025 YG PLAN | YG Announcement" on its official YouTube channel. The video began with Yang Hyun-suk, YG Entertainment's founder and former CEO, discussing TREASURE's upcoming projects.
In the first two minutes, he revealed a roadmap for TREASURE’s 2025 activities, including new music releases, leadership changes, and a global tour. The announcement also marked a shift in the group’s creative direction.
TREASURE is set to release a pre-release track titled Last Night on December 5, 2024. This will be followed by a mini-album in February 2025 and a full album in August 2025. Fans were also informed about special fan meetings planned for March 2025 and a world tour starting in October 2025.
Discussing the group’s new music, Yang Hyun-suk stated:
“This time, TREASURE will be showing a somewhat unique concept, different from before. I can say it's quite a significant change. Previously, with songs like 'JIKJIN' and 'BONA BONA' or the recently released 'KING KONG', we primarily focused on powerful and intense songs." he noted.
He further explained:
"This time, we are dialing back the intensity allowing for the expression of these guys' honest emotions and creating music that can reach you all in a more comfortable way. That's the kind of album we're preparing.”
The announcement also included a change in leadership starting January 1, 2025. Yang praised Hyun-suk and Jihoon for their work as leaders since the group’s debut. However, the leadership roles will rotate every 2–3 years. Kim Junkyu and Asahi were confirmed as the new co-leaders. Yang expressed confidence in the duo, saying:
“I believe these two members will do a great job as leaders of TREASURE for 2~3 years. I believe it will be interesting to see the new leadership system under JUNKYU and ASAHI and the changes inTREASURE's music style as well."
Following this, Yang Hyun-suk touched on plans for other YG Entertainment artists. He mentioned that BABYMONSTER and AKMU would have several activities scheduled throughout the coming year. WINNER was confirmed to embark on a tour, and BLACKPINK's previously announced world tour was reaffirmed.
Additionally, he revealed that YG Entertainment has numerous trainees preparing for debut, signaling a major expansion. He emphasized that 2025 would be a significant year for YG Entertainment, focusing on both established artists and new talent.
At the end of the video, Yang Hyun-suk encouraged fans to continue supporting their favorite YG Entertainment artists in 2025.
In the video, the highly anticipated first world tour for BABYMONSTER, titled "HELLO MONSTERS," was also unveiled. The tour will kick off in January in Seoul, followed by stops in New Jersey in February and Los Angeles in March. It will then continue in Japan from late March through April.
