On September 3, 2024, the South Korean television series Your Honor aired its eighth episode on ENA at 10 p.m. KST. Adapted from the Israeli television series Kvodo, Your Honor is a compelling crime thriller and revenge drama.
The narrative revolves around an honorable judge who endeavors to conceal his son's involvement in the unfortunate demise of a criminal gang leader's son. This act ignites the gang leader's unwavering pursuit of justice.
In the previous episode of Your Honor, Pan-ho involved in Kang-heon's complexities suffers in dilemma as Ho-yeong gets involved in it and Sang-hyuk's case goes to court. In the eighth episode, Pan tries anything and everything to protect his son from Kang-heon.

Kim Kang-heon (Kim Myung-min), in the drama Your Honor, portrays a complex character. Despite his ruthless nature as a crime boss and Chairman of Woo One, he remains a dedicated father, even while serving a two-year prison sentence for assault.
On the other hand, Song Pan-ho (Son Hyun-joo) is a highly respected judge and a devoted single parent to Song Ho-young, (Kim Do-hoon) a gifted student at Seoul University.
In addition, in Your Honor Heo Nam-jun is featured as the eldest child of Kim Kang-heon, who shares his father's ruthless nature. Choi Moo-sung portrays Jung Yi-hwa, a member of the National Assembly and a close friend of Pan-ho and also Jung Eun-chae portrays Kang So-yeong, a prosecutor who is not intimidated by powerful men.
Your Honor episode 8 recap: Ho-yeong confesses about killing Sang-hyun
The eighth episode of Your Honor begins with a flashback. It takes back the viewers to before Chae-rim's abduction. She went to Prosecutor Kang and told her that maybe Sang Taek didn't kill Sang-hyun. She shared her suspicions about Ho-yeong with her. After that, she met Pan-ho to tell him that she was going to hand over the case to Kang.
Following the meeting, she was abducted and remained missing. However, in reality, her teammate and prosecutor, Kang, rescued her. Prosecutor Kang then intimidated the abductor by suggesting that Kang-heon may not have been the one who killed Jo Bin, but rather her. She instructed him to disseminate false information claiming that he had killed Chae-rim.
Your Honor then comes back to the present, when Ho-yeong is sitting in front of Kang-heon. Ho-yeong gets an asthma attack making Kang-heon instantly remember the 119 phone call made from his son's phone.
In the next scene of Your Honor Ho-yeong goes back home. Pan-ho goes home too and tells him about Chae-rim's suspicion about Ho-yeong being the murderer. Pan-ho again suggests Ho-yeong to relocate to the US. Ho-yeong tells him about meeting Kang-heon and he has to meet him again.
He is about to leave the conversation when Pan-ho asks him if he has murdered intentionally to avenge his mother. Pan-ho explains that he knows that is not the case. But he has done everything to protect him because he knows he can not protect Ho-yeong from Kang-heon's power.
However if Ho-yeong has done it purposefully, he will not protect him because he can not accept to become an accomplice. Ho-yeong leaves asking him how has the law treated the man who treated his mother in such a way it led her to attempt suicide.
The next day in the episode of Your Honor Sang Taek's son gave his witness testimony to the court. He recognizes Sang-hyuk as the killer of his father.
After the court, Pan-ho gets a phone call from someone from the Blue House and they decide to meet. Upon meeting, the man from Blue House asks Pan-ho about his interest in politics. Pan-ho replies that it is because he feels limited as a judge.
So the man asks him to give his current case of Sang-hyuk to give an appropriate verdict which is the maximum sentence. He wants Pan-ho to be symbolic attention-grabbing so it can help the regime gain a better image when he enters the Blue House.
On the other hand Prosecutor Kang and Chae-rim shelter Sang Taek's son Lee Cheong Gang. The next morning in episode eight of Your Honor Eun wakes up and sees Ho-yeong sitting by her.
She asks him if he is there because her father's threatening. When Ho-yeong says nothing, she understands and further says that she wants to stay beside him because she thinks he is in pain and wants to release that. She asks him not to hate her.
Kang-heon keeps on listening to the 119 call. In the middle of that, Pan-ho calls Kang-heon and tells him about Lee Cheong Gang's testimony. Following that he meets him to discuss it and says that they need Cheong Gang to join their side. However, Kang-heon stops him and makes him listen to the 119 call.
He tells Pan-ho about how he found him from the CCTV footage. He tells him that he knows that the culprit of Sang-hyun's death is Ho-yeong. As he has seen him having an asthma attack and using a nebulizer just like the person in the 119 call. However, he is now with Eun.
Kang-heon asks Pan-ho if Ho-yeong is doing all these intentionally and has some plans in his mind. He threatens him that even if Pan-ho is a judge, Kang-heon has more power.
After some silence, Pan-ho discloses to him about Sang-hyuk r*ping his wife. He goes on to say that even though that case was dismissed his wife was living in torment until she finally killed herself two years ago. His son is continuously living in pain too so it is definite he has not killed Sang-hyun intentionally.
Listening to this Kang-heon's anger increases and he stands up. Pan-ho goes down on his knees and begs him to make Yi-hwa tell Cheong Gang that the main culprit is Judge Pan-ho, about which Detective Jung knows. However, she used Cheon Gang to get Kim Kang-heon and Kim Sang-hyuk.
Pan-ho tells Kang-heon that after this Cheon Gang will definitely change his testimony which will make Sang-hyuk's release easy. He promises to Kang-heon that after that he will come to Kang-heon and asks him to let go of his son Ho-yeong, understanding his feelings. Kang-heon says nothing but leaves.
After Kang-heon leaves, Pan-ho remembers Jo Min-yeon asking him to lure Kang-heon out after which she will get him. Remembering this he frantically starts dialing a phone number but to no avail.
Kang-heon on his way of return asks Park Chang-hyuk to look into Pan-ho's claim of Sang-hyuk r*ping his wife. At that moment a few car full of hooligans surround their car.
Park Chang-hyuk gets down the car blank fires threatening the hooligans to move back but they don't. Seeing this Kang-heon gets down. And as soon as he gets down a man asks the mob to get back and soon they get into the car and drive away.
In the next scene of Your Honor, Chae-rim asks Cheong Gang to go outside and get some fresh air as she will protect him no matter what. He goes down and is listening to music sitting outside when Yi-hwa approaches him.
Yi-hwa starts talking to him saying that it can be disadvantageous for her to stay with the detective and the prosecutor of his case. He then continues to reveal that the reason his sister, grandmother, and father are dead is the judge of his case - Song Pan-ho.
He tells him that Detective Jung, prosecutor Kang, and Judge Song Pan-ho all are together. He shows him evidence of that too. Cheong Gang is in shock and refuses to believe.
At this moment, Chae-rim comes there and asks Yi-hwa what is he doing there. Soon upon Yi-hwa's signal some people from internal affairs come and tell Chae-rim that it is okay for her to keep the witness with her as it can lead to the fabrication of testimony. He tries to reason with them saying it's part of witness protection.
Amidst this Cheong Gang asks her if Pan-ho is on their side and if she has used him to get to Kang-heon. Soon Yi-hwa offers him to stay with him saying he is going to help him catch his father's culprit and take him with him.
Pan-ho goes to meet the member of Blue House in the following scene of Your Honor. He tells him that he can not give Sang-hyuk a guilty verdict if he can not enter Blue House just after giving the verdict. The man says to Pan-ho that they want someone who can work with integrity even under pressure.
He then shows him photographs of Pan-ho kneeling down. He tells him another candidate they are considering for the position has taken those pictures knowing the risk. He leaves saying he will call Pan-ho if needed.
Cheong Gang is in Kang-heon's house, he promises to take care of anything he wants and Cheong Gang asks him to punish the culprit of the hit-and-run case. The next day in the episode of Your Honor, Cheong Gang changes his testimony saying that he isn't sure that the man in the video killing his father is Sang-hyuk.
He says when his grandmother and sister died, people said it was because of the Woo One group that wanted to take Sang-hyuk's name. He takes Chae-rim and Prosecutor Kang's name as the people who have told him about that. Kang and Detective Jung both are shocked to hear this.
In the next scene in Your Honor, Kang-heon listens to his men and the chief of police briefing him about the case of Sang-hyuk drugging and then s*xually assaulting Pan-ho's wife who was volunteering in a slum area.
This case happened when Kang-heon was in prison and it was dismissed after which Sang-hyuk was sent to the U.S. Jung Chae-rim and Prosecutor Kang sit together. They wonder how can Judge Pan-ho do such a thing.
Later in the episode of Your Honor, Pan-ho goes home. When he walks into the house, Park Chang-hyuk attacks him from behind and asks him to call Jo Min-yeon. He warns him that if he finds Jo Min-yeon, he will kill him but he is letting him go now because of the ongoing case.
After he leaves Ho-yeong comes home. Pan-ho tells him he doesn't know what to do now. Soon after that in Your Honor, Chae-rim calls Pan-ho and asks him to meet Amherst to talk about Ho-yeong. Subsequently, he goes to meet her.
She tells him that Ho-yeong's hit and run is not an accident but an intentional murder that he has planned for the last six months. To this, she says she has evidence. However, she is ready to bury the proof if Pan-ho gives Sang-hyuk a guilty verdict otherwise she is going to tell the world about it. She asks him to answer now.
Pan-ho asks for a moment to have a cigarette and goes away from her. He calls Park Chang-hyuk and asks for a favor. He comes back and asks her if she can help him and his son hide after the trial. As there is no way Kang-heon will let him live if he gives Sang-hyuk a guilty verdict. He tells Chae-rim that he hopes they never meet after that day and leaves.
In the last scene of this episode of Your Honor, Pan-ho goes back home and asks Ho-yeong if he did it intentionally. He tells him he didn't care to live as a shabby man who let his wife's killer go if that meant his son was fine. That is the best he can do.
To this, Ho-yeong stands up and yells at Pan-ho saying his father did not do his best, but he made him live a life worse than dying. He wanted to gift Kang-heon such a life that is worse than dying so he killed Sang-hyun. However, Pan-ho trying to save him is making him live exactly that kind of life.
Pan-ho asks if Ho-yeong wants him to leave him to die, and Ho-yeong says yes. Pan-ho declines this, telling Ho-yeong that he must live. With this, the eighth episode of Your Honor ends.
