Blake Lively recently shared a beauty tip from the CFDA Awards on Instagram. In October, she revealed her makeup artist, Carolina Gonzalez, used the eyeshadow-on-lip trick to enhance her lips.
Grateful for Gonzalez's expertise, Lively also reflected on the outdated methods she used in her younger years to achieve fuller lips and expressed relief at no longer needing them.
In two consecutive posts on her Instagram stories, she shared photos of herself with and without makeup, writing:
"When @gonzalezbeauty does the Gen Z eyeshadow lip trick to make your lips look huge..."
She continued:
"But then... you wash off your makeup & accept that you’re a millennial girl who used to wear lip gloss with a hint of chili peppers inside for a plump because we were that committed to bad ideas. Turns out eyeshadow is way less painful than Carolina's peppered lip gloss. Thank you @gonzalezbeauty for not turning my mouth into an episode of Hot Ones."

Blake also reminisced about a trick from her younger days that involved mixing chilli peppers with lip gloss to achieve the same fuller lips but of course at a cost.
This chilli pepper trick is actually not an uncommon one and is quite popular on social media as a useful hack. The way it works is that the heat from the peppers would cause a burning sensation, which would result in plumper lips.
This method is quite similar to the bee sting technique, which is yet again another hack that has gained popularity on social media, where bees are allowed to sting the lips to create swelling. While both methods are more affordable than cosmetic fillers and other forms of lip injections or surgeries, they can be just as harmful to one's health and self-esteem.
