AMC Theatres is planning to release a popcorn bucket for the public on August 28, 2024. The bucket is arriving on the occasion of the re-release of The Batman, which was released in 2022 and featured Robert Pattinson in the lead. A sequel has been confirmed, which will arrive in 2026.

Notably, the superhero film will remain on the big screen for a day, and the product will be accessible only on this occasion. The new item is named the Batman 85th Popcorn Collectible Concession Vessel, also called CCV.

The Batman will also include a sneak peek of the upcoming series The Penguin. The re-release is a part of a celebration of Batman's 85th anniversary at the AMC Theatres, and the bucket is arriving as part of a trend that has been followed for other films this year.

Certain collectible items have been released for purchase this year as a part of the re-release of other cult classics alongside the arrival of new films. The list includes titles like Deadpool & Wolverine and Inside Out 2.

AMC Theatres reveals more details about the popcorn bucket in a press release

As mentioned above, viewers will get to purchase a popcorn bucket while watching The Batman in theatres this month. A glimpse of the bucket was also listed on eBay, and it features the bat signal on top, which will light up, giving it an attractive look.

Apart from the bucket, AMC Theatres will offer a drink cup with pictures of a Batmobile. The photos will move by themselves on the cup.

The price of the set, including a large popcorn, is priced at $34.99, with taxes. Coming to the bucket and collectible cut, audiences can purchase it for $44.99, with taxes, while the cost of the cup is $11.99. The details were confirmed in a press release from the movie theatre chain.

The press release said that the purchase of the sets will depend on availability. The statement also disclosed that The Batman will run on selected screens of AMC Theatres.

Apart from The Batman, the 2009 animated film Coraline was also re-released on August 15 this year. A similar initiative was taken by another theatre chain, Regal Movies, where they sold collectible popcorn buckets that included circus mice playing drums along with other photos added to the sides.

Popcorn buckets bring more audiences to the big screen

Theatre chains have taken a new initiative, bringing their popcorn buckets to attract more people to the screens. The initiative has proved to be successful, and officials involved in the theatre business have opened up about the same.

Senior media analyst at Comscore, Paul Dergarabedian, told NBC News in June 2024:

"It's a bit of a Rorschach test for everyone's individual thinking. If you see something raunchy in a popcorn bucket, well, that may say more about you than the popcorn bucket. But that's not happening by accident."

Paul also said that audiences are expecting to get a bucket when they visit the theatres, which has brought a lot of pressure to producers.

The trend has been followed for Alien: Romulus, which is running on the big screen, while similar plans are being made for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which is helmed by Tim Burton.
