Art of a Hit is a horror film directed by Gaelan Connell from a screenplay he co-wrote with Charlie Saxton. The film is about a fictional rock band Excelsis that had made a name for themselves in the 90s but slowly got lost in oblivion.
After a decade, the band members regroup to get back into the game with an album. They decide to move into an old French castle to work with an arrogant producer Charlie, played by Chalie Saxton. However, soon their dreams of recapturing their glory turn into a nightmare as some spooky events unfold.
Ryan Donowho plays the lead singer who gets the group back together. The other cast members include Tim Jo, Rob Raco, James Earl, Allie MacDonald and David Valdes. The film will be released on VoD on August 20, 2024.

1) Tim Jo as Timmy
Tim Jo is an American actor who has been active in films and television since 2009 when he was cast in The 2 Bobs. Since then, he has been a part of projects like Bandslam, Castle, The Neighbours, SEAL Team and This is Us.
In Art of a Hit, he plays Tim, one of the members of Excelsis. Interestingly, Tim was a part of a band called Animals of Kin, with Bandslam co-star Ryan Donowho and Disturbia actress Sarah Roemer.
2) Ryan Donowho as Ryan
Ryan is the lead singer of the band. He's the one to get the group together after a decade because he's desperate to make a comeback. He wants to write music that could change someone's life, but the demons of his past start to haunt him in the millennia-old French castle.
Ryan Donowho used to be a street musician in New York before he was spotted by a modeling agent, which pivoted his life towards show business. He has a special talent for bucket drumming. His acting credits include Bandslam, Cabin Fever: Patient Zero, Inside the Rain, The O.C. and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
3) Charlie Saxton as Charlie
Charlie Saxton portrays Chalie Dupont, the arrogant and eccentric music producer who agrees to produce Excelsis' comeback album. He doesn't play an instrument himself but overindulges in the creative process. He authored a book called Art of a Hit and believes to knows everything about music.
Saxton is another Bandslam alumni and plays the role of Bug in the film. He has also been a part of projects like Hung, The Happening, The English Teacher and Silicon Valley.
4) Allie MacDonald as Cristin
Cristin is the only female member of the team. She's a brilliant musician but suffers from terrible stage fright. Interestingly, the actress has also been a part of the musical slasher film Stage Fright by Jerome Sables. Her character in Art of a Hit too has to go through some terrible events.
Allie MacDonald first appeared in a film at 10. She made a proper feature film debut with Score: A Hockey Musical. Since then, she has been a part of The Barrens, House at the End of the Street, Under the Silver Lake and Pacific Rim: The Black.
5) Rob Raco as Miles
Rob Raco plays Miles in Art of a Hit, the original member of the band who had to be replaced by David, who isn't fully committed to the band yet. In some of the interesting scenes, Ryan thinks he's seeing Miles in hallucinations, which creates a tense atmosphere in the film.
Rob Raco is a musician himself with two singles: Think About You and The Valley. He has been a part of projects like Riverdale, Supernatural and Lethal Weapon. He made his debut with the short film Second Chances in 2013.
