Marvel's Black Panther 3 is officially confirmed to be in development. Just a few days ago, around December 17, 2024, fans who had been waiting for news on the highly anticipated third installment of the franchise were finally rewarded with the exciting announcement that the film was happening. This confirmation came from news outlets like Deadline, NewsBytes, and others.

As expected, the announcement generated a lot of excitement among audiences, leading to various discussions online about who might join the cast of Black Panther. One name that popped up was Denzel Washington, who recently made headlines by mistakenly revealing details about his connection to the movie in an interview.

Discussions surrounding the cast of Black Panther 3 have brought up several familiar names from the previous film's storyline. Among them are names such as Lupita Nyong'o (who plays Nakia) and Letitia Wright (who plays Shuri, aka Black Panther).

Black Panther 3 is finally happening

The confirmation of Black Panther 3 understandably sent fans into a frenzy, especially since there had been clear indications that the film was on its way to being greenlit by the creators.

During the 2023 Golden Globes, Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri and took on the mantle of Black Panther in the previous film, addressed questions about the status of Black Panther 3 in an interview with Variety.

“I think it’s already in the works," she said.

Wright also mentioned that after the intense years spent creating the two films in the Black Panther series, everyone could use a little time to recharge before coming together again for a project.

"You know, we just had a terrific two years of just bringing it out and everybody coming together to support it. We need a little bit of a break, we need to regroup, and Ryan [Coogler] needs to get back into the lab so it’s going to take a while, but really excited for you guys to see that,” she stated.

In addition to Wright, another actor who hinted at Black Panther 3 was Denzel Washington, as mentioned earlier. In a November 2024 interview with Today, Washington revealed his involvement in multiple projects, including an accidental mention of his participation in the third installment of Black Panther. At the time, an official announcement about the film had yet to be made. His exact words were:

"Ryan Coogler is writing a part for me in the next Black Panther.”

Following this, Washington appeared on Variety's Awards Circuit Podcast in December 2024 and mentioned that he apologized to Coogler for letting the Black Panther news slip.

“I called him and apologized for talking about the movie, and right there sitting with him was his beautiful wife. He’s still Ryan, humble and full of ideas. Whatever he writes, I’ll read,” he said.
