Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is a new, witty installment in the ongoing, heartwarming journey of a woman whose unexpected turns in life are often hilariously awkward. She returns to the screen once more as Bridget Jones.

Fans of Helen Fielding's novels and the earlier Bridget Jones movies will be rewarded with this long-overdue adaptation, opening theatrically internationally on February 12, 2025, and straight onto Peacock for US viewers from February 13, 2025 onwards.

Under the direction of Michael Morris, who penned the screenplay in collaboration with Dan Mazer and Abi Morgan, the new chapter of Bridget's life was written with fresh spin but with nostalgia by Fielding. Four years since the tragic death of her husband Mark Darcy, Bridget is facing the harsh reality of being a single mother and preparing to enter her early 50s.

Aided by her friends, she again risks going back out into the dating world, finding comedy and pathos alongside the way. From its all-star cast, which includes Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant, and Emma Thompson, the movie examines love, loss, and perseverance.

It begins with Bridget Jones in her early 50s, four years after she had been a widow and her husband Mark Darcy, whom Colin Firth played in previous films of the series, died on a humanitarian mission. Now a single mother of two children, Bridget's friends encourage her to start dating again.

She opens an account on Tinder and finds a much younger man called Roxster, played by Leo Woodall. In conjunction with others judging her and her inadequacies, Bridget struggles with the everyday issues of single parenting, work, and romance.
