It has also been reported by the same publications that the rights to making the Britney Spears biopic have been given to Universal Pictures, who have reportedly procured Jon M. Chu to direct the project.

Additionally, a cryptic X post from Britney Spears herself recently has convinced her fans that producer Marc Platt is also associated with the project. On August 1, 2024, Britney Spears wrote on her X account:

What will the Britney Spears biopic be about?

As previously stated, the Britney Spears biopic, which is yet to be set in motion, will be based on Britney Spear's 2023 memoir The Woman in Me. Since its release, the tell-all biography of the pop star's life has sold millions of copies, setting milestones in the publishing industry.

The book delved into the details of Spears' never-seen-before, never-heard-before aspects of life, with a focus on her rise to stardom, her controversial relationships, and her conservatorship.

Spears did not shy away from name-dropping the people who have caused her pain in the past in her memoir. While talking about her failed relationships, she spoke of Justin Timberlake and Kevin Federline. She also detailed the tribulations she faced at the hands of her family members, owing to her conservatorship from which she was relieved in November 2021.

Despite any official confirmation about the cast of the Britney Spears biopic, the popular consensus is that Sydney Sweeney is being roped in to play the titular role in the project. Fans cannot help but notice the stark similarities in the two public personalities' external appearances.

Additionally, they also believe that the two celebrities were subject to almost a similar kind of media scrutiny during the pinnacle of their careers, which makes Sweeney the perfect fit for the role.

First published on October 24, 2023, Britney Spears' biography, The Woman in Me, shed light on Britney's life, in her own words. In the book, she revealed all the aspects of her turbulent life which until then had remained a secret and open to discussion. The book's synopsis read:
