Bullet Train is one of Brad Pitt's action comedy films that became a major hit after its release on August 5, 2022. The movie is directed by David Leitch, who is widely popular for his action films such as John Wick (2014), Deadpool 2 (2018), Atomic Blondie (2017), and recently, The Fall Guy (2024).

Zak Olkewicz wrote the screenplay based on Kōtarō Isaka's 2010 novel Maria Beetle, translating to Bullet Train in English. Leitch and Pitt have a history of working together in films. Leitch has worked as a stuntman with Pitt for five movies, including the 1999 masterpiece Fight Club.

Leitch, with his years of experience as a stunt performer, has made the film a must-watch for all Pitt and Leitch fans. He has blended elements of action and humor. All the events in the movie take place on a single train journey but stretch for long.

The official synopsis of Bullet Train reads:

"Ladybug is an unlucky assassin who's determined to do his job peacefully after one too many gigs has gone off the rails. Fate, however, may have other plans as his latest mission puts him on a collision course with lethal adversaries from around the globe -- all with connected yet conflicting objectives -- on the world's fastest train."

For Bullet Train, Leitch chose a set of incredibly talented cast including Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Joey King, Brian Tyree Henry, Hiroyuki Sanada, Andrew Koji, Benito A. Martinez Ocasion (aka Bad Bunny), Zazie Beetz, and Michael Corbett Shannon.

Ladybug is a paid assassin, who has been experiencing a lot of bad luck on missions lately. So, his contractor sends him on an easy mission, which is to retrieve a briefcase from the bullet train, to get him back into the business. However, he soon realizes that the train is full of assassins who want to kill each other.

Brad Pitt is a three-time Academy Award-winning actor and one of the most popular celebrities in Hollywood. He is known for his iconic performances in movies like Interview with the Vampire (1994), Fight Club (1999), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), Inglourious Basterds (2009), and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019).


2) Sandra Bullock as Maria Beetle

Maria Beetle, played by Sandra Bullock, acts as Ladybug's contract handler for his missions. She is the one who sends him to get the briefcase from the train. Maria keeps on contacting and updating Ladybug with the latest updates of the plans, which soon turns into a disaster. Maria has a deep understanding of the crime world, the politics behind it, and how it works.

Sandra Bullock is an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award actress and was among the 100 most influential people by Time in 2010. She is known for her phenomenal performances in movies such as The Proposal (2009), Miss Congeniality (2000), Speed (1994), Bird Box (2018), and Ocean's 8 (2018).


3) Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Tangerine

The man with a slick back and a neat mustache, Tangerine is a British assassin set to recover The White Death's son back to safety. He is Lemon's twin brother, and this duo has been on deadly adventures together. They have a reputation in the underworld for their proficiency in completing missions.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is an English actor known for films such as Kick-Ass (2010), Nowhere Boy (2009), Anna Karenina (2012), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Kraven the Hunter (2024), and most recently, The Fall Guy (2024).


4) Joey King as The Prince

The Prince is a very cunning young assassin who enters the train in the disguise of a schoolgirl. She takes this as an advantage, pretending to be innocent and then killing people in the most gruesome ways. She turns out to be the daughter of The White Death, whom he had ignored and abandoned for being a girl. She is full of hate and desire for vengeance against her father.

Joey King got worldwide recognition for her role as Elle Evans in the teenage romance movie series The Kissing Booth franchise co-starring Jacob Elordi and Joel Courtney. Besides that, she has worked in other movies such as The Act (2019) and A Family Affair (2024).


5) Brian Tyree Henry as Lemon

Lemon is the twin brother of Tangerine, and they board the bullet train on the same mission to rescue the White Death's son. He is a huge rugged man with a warm sense of humor. Lemon looks at every obstacle in life from the perspective of his childhood show Thomas & Friends.

Brian Tyree Henry has played the role of Alfred Miles in the music comedy series Atlanta (2016-2022). He has also worked in Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), Eternals (2021), and the recent release, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024).


6) Hiroyuki Sanada as The Elder

The Elder is the father of Yuichi, who boards the trains to find his son. He is a calm and wise man who only kills for justice. He has impeccable mastery in sword fighting. The Elder, with his katana in hand, turns into a deadly force. The White Death had stripped him away from his entire clan, killing everyone that he had ever loved, except for his son.

Hiroyuki Sanada is a Japanese actor and a martial arts practitioner. Sanada is known for his performances in action films such as The Last Samurai (2003), 47 Ronin (2013), Shōgun (2024), Rush Hour 3 (2007), and John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023).


7) Andrew Koji as Yuichi Kimura

Yuichi Kimura is the son of The Elder, who boards the train in search of The Prince. His son, Wataru, was pushed off a building by the assassins of The Prince. Just like his father, he is a stoic man with unshakable determination who wants to punish the culprits behind his son's condition.

Andrew Koji is an actor and martial arts practitioner. He became popular worldwide for his role as Ah Sahm in the martial arts action series Warrior (2019-2023). Koji also made his appearances in Fast & Furious 6 (2013), Peaky Blinders (2013-2022), and Seneca: On the Creation of Earthquakes (2023).


8) Michael Corbett Shannon as The White Death

The White Death is the central antagonist in the movie, and every disaster happening on the train is somehow related to him. He is a Russian crime lord who started as a disciple of the Yakuza group but soon took over, killing every single one who opposed him.

Michael Corbett Shannon is a two-time Academy Award-winning actor. He has made appearances in Man of Steel (2013), Knives Out (2019), Nocturnal Animals (2016), Revolutionary Road (2008), Bad Boys II (2003), and The Bikeriders (2023).
