Ben Malloy's wife is killed in a cafe bombing in Budapest. Realizing that it may have been a murder, not an accident, he begins an investigation into her death, which leads to him confronting FSB agent, Evgeny.

Evgeny reveals that Farrah was involved in dealings Ben never had a clue about, but a Chechen assassin named Kharon murders him before he can reveal anything else. Ben gets bailed out by John Branca, an old partner he knew back in Hungary.

Unfortunately, Branca is revealed to be a treacherous snake who lures Ben into a trap so he can interrogate Ben regarding what he knows about his wife. Ben is then rescued by Krystyna Kowerski, a former Russian agent who used to work with Farrah.

The two head to Farrah's cache and discover a laptop where she'd documented evidence of CIA Deputy Director Williams taking bribes. Ben's son, Nick, is abducted in Croatia under orders from Branca, and Ben offers to surrender the laptop in exchange for Nick's safety.

Ben meets Nick's captors in Hungary, where he and Krystyna proceed to turn the tables on them and rescue Nick. CIA Deputy Director Williams is subsequently exposed for his corruption, thanks to Farrah's evidence.
