Coco, the American animated fantasy comedy-drama created by Pixar Animation Studios, was released on 22 November 2017. The film beautifully incorporates the topics of family, customs, and the appreciation of life through a plot set in Mexico. One of the major characters in the film is Miguel Rivera, who was voiced by Anthony Gonzalez.
Coco follows Miguel, a young child who has a strong passion for music despite his family's prohibition against it due to a previous family tragedy. When Miguel covertly plays guitar, he unwittingly activates a magical link to the Land of the Dead. He meets friendly skeletons, including a delightful and funny spirit named Hector.
Miguel embarks on an adventure with Hector in search of his family's musical roots and the truth about his great-great-grandfather. As they travel through the bright and enchanting Land of the Dead, Miguel discovers the value of family, memory, and the power of song.
Along the way, he encounters unstated realities that change his perspective on his family's history. The story deftly covers issues of love, bereavement, and the preservation of familial traditions.

The main storyline of Coco
Available on Hotstar, the animated film goes back in time to blend with the existing story of a 12-year-old kid called Miguel Rivera from Santa Cecilia, Mexico, who yearns to be like his music idol Ernesto de la Cruz. However, his family despises music because of a family curse caused when Miguel’s great-great-grandfather abandoned his own family to pursue fame in music. Still, Miguel’s desire for music helps him strive for clandestine practice and performance.
During the Day of the Dead festivities, Miguel accidentally breaks a family keepsake that leads him to the Land of the Dead. There, he meets wonderful ancestors and asks his great-great-grandfather for permission to live again. In the course of events, he meets Héctor, a delightful trickster who helps Miguel in his endeavors while telling him facts about their genealogical relations.
As he moves through the Land of the Dead’s realm, Miguel discovers the value of family and true devotion to those who have passed. The movie's final scene reveals heartbreaking familial realities, demonstrating how hatred may retain memories and, in the end, mend the characters' betrayed link.
