Creeping Death is a 2023 Halloween slasher drama film that was released via the OTT platform Screambox for online viewing on September 10, 2024. Though the film has an intriguing premise about the ghoulish origin of Halloween, it has received a lukewarm response from critics and audiences.

The official summary for the film reads:

"Tim's mother has brain cancer, but his friends steal a sack unleashing the Aos Si Celtic spirit on Halloween night. They must survive the night or sacrifice their lives to the spirit. The spirit pursues them for their trespass."

At the end of the film, Tim is the one who ends up being "sacrificed" to the spirits to ensure his mother's survival. However, Tim survives at the end of the film too. The ending is open to interpretation regarding how the protagonist survived and whether the Aos Si spirit continues to haunt his life.

Creeping Death revolves around Tim, who lives with his father Fred and mother Linda. Linda has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and has been suffering from the illness for three years. During Halloween, when Fred is away from home, some of Tim's friends barge into his house, carrying a sack that changes the trajectory of their lives.

The leader of the group, Nate, says they stole the sack from an old man, Mr. Hawthorne, as a prank. However, they decide to return the sack later, as Tim and another friend, Danielle, wait in the car. Unfortunately, they find the old man dead in his house and steal something else while escaping: a Celtic book about the spirit called Aos Si.

After reading the book, the group of friends learn that the spirits were the first trick-or-treaters, responsible for the formation of Halloween. This was until they went rogue and started demanding blood sacrifices from their victims.

In the meantime, an Aos Si spirit attacks the group of friends, and Tim realizes that the only solution to ward the spirit off is to sacrifice the body of a loved one. After hearing about this, Nate asks Tim to offer up his mother, since she is already suffering from terminal cancer.

However, the spirit starts to attack them before a decision can be made, targeting Tim, Danielle, and Nate. The Aos Si takes on the image of the Grim Reaper. Tim and Danielle manage to escape into a cornfield where the Aos Si are storing the many dead corpses of their victims. The two kids pretend to be dead too, hoping that their charade will save them.

In the cornfield, Tim confesses his love for Danielle, and she repeats it to him before she stabs him. However, Tim does not die from the stab wound, and the spirits devour Danielle instead.

In the last scene of Creeping Death, Tim is rescued by police officers and paramedics. However, the cornfield is empty when Tim regains consciousness, with all the bodies of the previous night missing. The film ends here, leaving an open interpretation for the viewers.

Was it all a dream that Tim had? Did the Aos Si spirits use him as a medium to execute their plans, and are they now a part of who Tim is? Did Tim love Danielle enough for it to be a sufficient sacrifice, or will the Aos Si spirits return? Creeping Death leaves the viewers to decide what the scariest option would be.
