Curse of the Sin Eater is a cult horror film directed by Justin Denton, set to be released on Friday, September 6, 2024. Denton is known for his live-action, animation, and virtual reality works. He has provided visual effects for Battleship (2012) and Mr. Robot Virtual (2016) and directed the short film Burlap in 2016.
Written by Adam Davis and Will Corona Pilgrim, Curse of the Sin Eater tells the story of a financially struggling young man, Rick Malone, who manages a job in a construction company. His life turns around when he meets a rich dying businessman, who brings before him a life-turning deal. Rick will be inheriting his entire estate and all his wealth, but he has to undergo a horrifying task. After the man has died, he has to eat a meal that is made out of his corpse.
Rick completes the task and inherits the fortune, but soon realizes that things are not how he had dreamt them to be. Soon he realizes that while eating the dead man's flesh, he had finished a ritual where all of the sins committed by the man had been transferred to him. As a result, Rick begins to see the angry spirits of those killed by the billionaire. This legacy turns into a curse, threatening to drag his soul towards damnation.

1) Carter Shimp as Rick Malone
Carter Shimp stars as Rick Malone, the protagonist in Curse of the Sin Eater. Rick is a financially struggling young man who finds a job in a construction company. But his life changes when a wealthy businessman offers him his entire wealth, but only if he consumes the man's flesh after he dies.
He ends up completing the ritual but soon realizes that he has gulped all of the billionaire's past sins along with his wealth. Carter Shimp is known for his roles in TV series such as Paper Girls (2022), Fargo (2020), and the 2023 movie The Holdovers.
2) Larry Yando as George Drayton
Larry Yando plays the role of George Drayton, the billionaire who gives Rick a life-changing offer. George is a billionaire who is in the very last phase of his mortality. Throughout his life, he had earned innumerable wealth, but that came with a price. His way toward building his empire came with a lot of grueling murders and sins that he collected on his way.
During the end of his life, he makes Rick undergo a cult ritual, where he transfers all of his sins to Rick with a wish to save his soul from damnation. Larry Yondo has made appearances in TV series including Chicago Fire (2021), Boss (2012), Underemployed (2012), South Side (2023), and 61st Street (2023).
3) Elizabeth Laidlow as Antonette Mormo
In the movie, Elizabeth Laidlow plays Antoinette Mormo, who becomes Rick's adviser after he attains all of the wealth. Antoinette had been an old member working for Drayton's empire and knew about all of its past secrets. She is the one who first tells Rick about the Curse of the Sin Eater. She knew that the old man was a sin eater himself, who created a trap for Rick to transfer all of his sins, along with his wealth.
Elizabeth Laidlow is a theater actress who made her major film appearance in Stephen Cone's 2015 critically acclaimed film Henry Gamble's Birthday Party. She went on to make appearances in numerous TV series, including The Chicago Code (2011), Boss (2012), Betrayal (2014), Crisis (2014), Under Covers (2015), NCIS (2019), Chicago P.D. (2014), Chicago Med (2022), and The Red Line (2019).
