The final trailer of Deadpool & Wolverine not only heightened anticipation for the film but also confirmed the return of a beloved character from the X-Men universe. Dafne Keen is reprising her role as Laura, also known as X-23, bringing back the character she first played in the critically acclaimed Logan.

In her interview with Entertainment Weekly, Dafne Keen expressed her delight in returning to the role and the fun she had keeping it a secret. She humorously added:

"I got asked in every interview, and I just got to lie, which was really funny."

Keen credited Andrew Garfield, who famously had to keep his surprise return as Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home, as her inspiration. She stated:

"All the inspo comes from Andrew Garfield. He is the master at this."

More details on Dafne Keen's character Laura

Laura, also known as X-23, has a tragic story behind her creation. She was initially created as the ultimate killing machine, she was cloned from Wolverine and then proceeded to become his foster daughter. Laura became a competent assassin with the Facility as her employer before several calamities led her toward Wolverine plus the X-Men.

Following these events, she attended Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters and later became a member of X-Force. Surprisingly, it turned out later that she was not just a clone but rather Wolverine's biological child per se.

Laura inherited many of Wolverine's powers, including an accelerated healing factor, heightened senses, agility, reflexes, and claws made up of retractable adamantium, which are located on both hands and feet. She took over the mantle of Wolverine from her father in the 2015 comic series All-New Wolverine.

Laura has become one of Marvel’s top female superheroes with remarkable abilities. Over time, she has been featured in various animated films as well as video games.

More details on Deadpool & Wolverine

Deadpool & Wolverine reunites Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson (Deadpool) and Hugh Jackman's Logan (Wolverine) for the first time on screen since 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. This film marks their formal introduction and the introduction of the mutants from Marvel comics to Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The story kicks off when Wade is plucked from his universe by the Time Variance Authority (TVA), the multiverse watchdogs introduced in Loki, setting him on a mission across multiple alternate dimensions. This mission brings him together with a version of Jackman's Wolverine from a parallel reality.

Deadpool & Wolverine is produced by Maximum Effort, 21 Laps Entertainment, and Marvel Studios, and directed by Shawn Levy. The film promises an unprecedented combination of action-comedy and maintains its R-rating like its predecessors. It is expected to hit theaters on July 26, 2024.

The film runs for 127 minutes, striking a balance between character development, complex plot twists, and high-energy fight scenes.

Fans can watch Deadpool & Wolverine in their nearest cinemas starting July 26, 2024.
