Den of Thieves 3 has fans eagerly anticipating its arrival. The first movie came out on January 19, 2018, and had both intense action and complicated heist plots. Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, which came out seven years later, on January 10, 2025, took the story to other countries.

The franchise has a lot of loyal fans. It's directed by Christian Gudegast and stars Gerard Butler and O'Shea Jackson Jr. With the success of Pantera in theatres, fans are already wondering about the next installment.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), on January 10, 2025, Butler acknowledged the delays in production and his role in them:

“[A threequel is] already pitched. It’s already done. We’re ready to go. We’re feeling very good about it."

So, Den Of Thieves 3 is not yet confirmed. Lionsgate hasn't green-lit the third installment yet.

All about Den of Thieves 3

Den of Thieves 3 is poised to explore new territories and deliver even more ambitious heists. Gerard Butler, reprising his role as “Big Nick” O’Brien, expressed his determination to speed up the production timeline.

In another recent interview regarding Den of Thieves 3 states, Butler said,

"It’s not going to take that long."

Jackson Jr.R responded, saying,

"Really?"

Butler affirmed his stance, saying,

"I will not wait anymore, and I won't do that to other people anymore. I'm sorry."

Butler added,

"But"It's not all my fault, but a lot of it is."

The director, Christian Gudegast, has hinted that the international theme from Pantera, which was about a daring diamond theft in Europe, might continue.

The next movie in the series might take place in different parts of the world, which would make the story bigger and more important. Den of Thieves 3 depends on Pantera doing well at the box office, but Butler's excitement and the team's hard work point to good things ahead.

As for Den of Thieves 3, there's no official release date. However, Butler’s assurance of a shorter production gap means fans likely won’t endure another seven-year wait. Streaming details for Pantera will follow its theatrical run, making it accessible to a wider audience.

What happened in Den of Thieves 2: Pantera?

After the events of Den of Thieves, Nick O'Brien fails to catch Donnie Wilson in Den of Thieves 2: Pantera. Donnie runs away to Europe after a theft, which starts a fierce rivalry. Nick follows Donnie to Belgium, where he has conducted a diamond theft. Nick is dealing with a difficult divorce, money problems, and a lack of contact with his child.

Nick suggests that instead of arresting him, he join Donnie's group, the Panthers, in a new theft that will target the World Diamond Center (WDC) in France. Donnie agrees, and to get into the WDC, he pretends to be an aristocrat while Nick pretends to be his assistant. The plan is to get around security to steal diamonds and jewels worth €800 million.

The heist fails, so the Panthers have to run away from the French police. The Sicilian Mafia helps them and tells Donnie to get back a blood diamond that was stolen in Belgium.

The crew celebrates after doing what the mafia asks, but the police surprise them. Nick is not arrested, which shows he never quit being a police officer. Nick had broken into the Panthers to hurt them.

While Donnie is being taken to prison, the Sicilian Mafia plans an escape and hires him as a spy and thief. Nick reads about the escape at the end of the movie while smiling in a way that makes his relationship with Donnie seem complicated.
