Apartment 7A is the story of Terry Gionoffrio, a dancer who twists her leg and is unable to dance. Distraught after a failed audition, Terry follows the producer of the musical to his home. However, due to the pain medications for her injury, she passes out on the sidewalk, just after a couple on the street sees her.

Terry wakes up in the couple's apartment, and they introduce themselves as the Castavets. They inform her that the producer Marchand also lives in the same building and is their neighbour. Mrs Castavet offers Terry the apartment down the hall that they own too, and she accepts as a temporary tenant.

Terry then goes to Marchand's house for a drink, after which he sleeps with her without her consent when she's drunk. However, he offers Terry a part as a chorus dancer in the musical, which she feels glad about.

However, this is where things begin to go wrong. Terry disvovers that she's pregnant after the one night stand. Worse still, she begins having disturbing visions about an abomination in her womb. She starts to suspect that there's something wrong with her baby, which sets the premise for the film.
