Deadpool & Wolverine came out in theaters on July 26, 2024, and brought Ryan Reynolds' iconic Merc with a Mouth to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, he wasn't alone as Hugh Jackman's Wolverine made a return as well after retiring the character back in 2017's Logan, and joined the Marvel franchise as well.

Picking up 6 years after the events of Deadpool 2, Deadpool & Wolverine follows Wade Wilson, who gets snatched by the TVA. Learning that his world is dying, teams up with Wolverine to stop Cassandra Nova and save his timeline from being destroyed.

It's a classic Marvel tradition that their films have mid and post-credit scenes that help set up future installments. However, with Deadpool & Wolverine, it only has one of them. The film only has a single post-credits scene that doesn't set up anything. It is rather a callback to a joke involving Chris Evans' Johnny Storm that happened earlier in the film.

Deadpool & Wolverine's post-credits scene features The Human Torch

Chris Evans returned as Johnny Storm / The Human Torch in Deadpool & Wolverine. He starred as the character first in 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four films. It was also his first superhero role before he jumped back into the Marvel universe as Captain America / Steve Rogers. Essentially, Evans' role in the film is a part of one of the film's biggest jokes as well.

In the film, Johnny Storm, Deadpool, and Wolverine are captured by Cassandra Nova's forces and taken to her in the Void. When they finally meet Nova, Deadpool talks about how Storm had some not-nice things to say about her, which led to her killing the Fantastic Four member. This leads to Wolverine giving Wade grief about how he led to Johnny's death.

So, to set the record straight, in the post-credits scene Wade travels back to the TVA office and gets a recording of Johnny saying all the bad things about Nova to prove himself innocent. The audience is treated to Evans spouting some heavy vulgarity, and that's where Deadpool & Wolverine ends. While it doesn't set up anything, fans will certainly find it amusing.

Deadpool & Wolverine honors the 20th Century Fox Marvel movies

While the movie does not have a mid-credits scene, it at least features a credits sequence that will be a nostalgia trip for fans. The enormous boom of Marvel movies can be credited to the original Blade, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films, and 20th Century Fox's Marvel saga, and the film pays a special tribute to the latter.

During the credits sequence, fans get to see a montage of behind-the-scenes footage from various Marvel movies that were produced by Fox back in the day. From X-Men, Daredevil, and even the ill-received Fantastic Four (2015), the film paid a special tribute to that era of Marvel movies.

With Disney now owning 20th Century Fox (renamed to 20th Century Studios) and that era of Marvel films being over, fans will be happy to see that Deadpool & Wolverine didn't forget about its roots. You can currently check out the film directed by Shawn Levy as it is playing in theaters right now.
