Trap directed by Lady in the Water (2006) director M. Night Shyamalan arrived on the big screens on August 2, 2024. The film stars Josh Hartnett as Cooper, Saleka as Lady Raven, Jonathan Langdon as Jamie and Ariel Donoghue as Riley, among many others.

The sinister plot of the movie deals with Cooper and his daughter Riley who attend the popular Lady Raven pop concert. However, Cooper after coming to the venue realizes how the event is planned in a way for the FBI to arrest him.

Trap (2024) end-credit scene explained

In Trap, after Lady Raven gets Butcher busted with the help of her Instagram followers, accessing Butcher's phone and also letting his family know about his real self, he sneaks out one last time before the end, as he did throughout the film.

However, as the film concludes, Cooper finally gets arrested because of his wife and Lady Raven. He also realizes that the trap to set him up and get him arrested is in his own home and not the concert venue.

The end credit scene shows Jamie, the vendor who had assisted Cooper earlier. He watches the news and finds out that Butcher is arrested. After Butcher's face and his true identity are revealed, Jamie is appalled. He finds out that Cooper is a Butcher, which makes Jamie realize how he had helped the killer unknowingly.

Earlier in the film, Cooper had used Jamie’s ID to enter the back room, where he also stole a radio to make his escape and hear the comms. He had also won Jamie’s trust after which Jamie revealed to him that the concert had been planned so that the SWAT and the FBI could arrest Butcher, the serial killer.

The end credits conclude as Jamie decides that he will never talk to any stranger while he's on his shift, to avoid mistakes like this. In the end credits, Jamie after watching the news, also exclaims:

“I helped him. I helped him. I ain't talking to no one at work no more!”

Will we see Trap 2?

Although there has been no official confirmation from M. Night Shyamalan, the movie ended on a mysterious note even after Cooper’s arrest.

After Lady Raven comes to his home and reveals to his family about Cooper being the killer, he escapes via a secret door. Copper meets Lady Raven in her car, where he handcuffs her. However, she escapes and so does Cooper, even after the law enforcement officers surround him.

Soon, he comes back home and realizes that his wife had also plotted against him after finding out that he's the real Butcher. His wife tricks him, drugging his pie after which Copper gets arrested. However, before going to jail, Cooper unlocks his handcuffs before getting into the police van.

Although we know that Copper is arrested, he's known for his notorious escapes, as seein in Trap. For him, escaping prison could be no big deal. However, it's too early to speculate if there will be a sequel to the film.

Fans and viewers will witness a story with Cooper once again on the run with his mortal-sinning CV if the film gets a sequel, which isn't confirmed for now.
