Venom: The Last Dance was released in theatres on October 25, 2024. The third Venom film in the trilogy, it is a sequel to Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. With every Marvel film, there is a trend of a post-credits scene that teases what's to come in the future, and Venom 3 continues this tradition by having two such scenes.
Venom: The Last Dance features a mid-credits scene and a post-credits scene. While one teases the future of the franchise, the other is a scene that's played off for jokes and may be important to the future of the franchise. Fans can definitely stay behind in their seats once the credits start rolling to check out the teases.
The Tom Hardy-starrer is also said to be the final Venom film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe of Marvel Characters. Joining Tom Hardy in the film are Juno Temple as Teddy Payne, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Rex Strickland, Rhys Ifans as Martin Moon, Stephen Graham as Patrick Mulligan, and Andy Serkis as Knull.

What happens in Venom: The Last Dance's post-credits scenes?
Venom: The Last Dance features two post-credits scenes. However, only one of them is important to the plot, while the other is a scene that is used to pay off a joke that was set up earlier in the film and may also pack in some future hints. For all the Venom enthusiasts looking for more Knull, the mid-credits scene sets up the character to have a future in Sony's Spider-Man Universe of Marvel Characters.
The scene sees Knull talk about the death of Venom and how the universe isn't safe from him anymore. The film sets up Knull as the creator of the symbiotes and as someone who was locked up by his creations in prison. So, going forward, fans can expect him to be the overall big bad of this cinematic universe.
The post-credits scene, on the other hand, sees Cristo Fernandez's bartender escape from Area 51 after being taken in earlier in the film. However, it also features a shot of a shedding of the symbiote that later on attached to Dr. Teddy Payne in the film. While the scene itself is played off for a joke, that shot may hold the key to how Venom may return in the future.
What does the post-credits scene mean for the future of the franchise?
Venom: The Last Dance's post-credits may have given a hint as to how Venom may be able to return in the future. In the climax of the film, Venom sacrifices himself by bonding with all the Xenophages and dousing himself in acid. However, the post-credits scene of the film reminds fans that a shed of Venom's symbiote is still left over in Area 51.
While it directly doesn't show it, fans get to see the shedding of Payne's purple symbiote at the end. Earlier in the film, a shed of Venom was taken in by Sadie Christmas. Even though Venom is dead, a part of him still lies behind in the Area 51 lab. So, while this is meant to be the final solo Venom film, fans can expect the character to play a supporting role in future films.
Venom: The Last Dance, directed by Kelly Marcel, is currently playing in theatres.
