Close to You tells the story of Sam who’s on his way home for a family reunion and stumbles into an old friend named Katherine.

The unexpected meeting kicks off a chain of events that shakes up Sam's life. The movie delves deep into what happens when past relationships crash into current realities as Sam experiences feelings and situations he thought were long behind him.

As he reconnects with Katherine, old memories and what-ifs bubble up. Their renewed friendship forces Sam to reflect on the choices he has made and the person he has become.

Meanwhile his family, especially his parents, Jim and Miriam, are central to the journey. They bring their own set of dynamics that push Sam to confront truths about his upbringing and its impact on his life.

The story is about rekindling old ties along with tough conversations that follow, which also explores how these interactions can be both unsettling and healing. The film explores the complications of returning to a familiar yet changed space where every interaction has deeper meanings and every old room holds a memory.

Characters like siblings and friends enrich the plot with their own experiences and views. Close to You is about the idea of home as a collection of people and past experiences, which challenges viewers to think about where they’ve come from and the people who are a part of their own stories.

Close to You is scheduled to be released in the United States on August 16, 2024, and in Canada and the United Kingdom a week later, on August 23, 2024.
